Can someone who has spent considerable time behind both boats, properly weighted and equipped for riding (tower/plyon plus 900+ lbs in the Ski Nautique and full stock ballast plus extra sacs in the Super Air) please explain how the wakes are different, similar, which is bigger, wider, or more customizable?
It would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Erik |

Erik, I recently sold my 2001 and I also recently bought a SAN so I think I probably am qualified to answer your questions.
The 2001 - Good vert, good pop, and narrow. You can build the wake as big as you want to. You will be able to have a really fun wake with out any weight at all or you can build it.... We used to put a fat seat (1100 lbs) in the back and about 400 lbs in front. The wake was great. My wife prefers this wake over the new boat because she says it is better on her knees (several surgeries). The boat drives and handles better then any other inboard I have ever driven (10+).
The SAN - Pretty much the same as above with a little more kick at the end. The wake really bucks you up and gives you nice vertical lift. WE run it with stock ballast in the rear and 600 lbs in the locker. A lot of people use a lot more weight then this but we really like it as is. The boat drives like crap compared to the 2001 but still a really nice ride. We are really enjoying the extra space.
Both boats look awesome in the water, its been said before but Nauties are just sexy! |

Greg,
you should add a 1000 pder in the ski locker, stock rear tanks. It will surprise you on how huge the wake gets, doesnt purpoise at speed. We are lucky we have the larger ski locker than the newer boats. The clarion remote works....looks good anyway in the boat.
regards,
Mike

I have spent a ton of time in each.
Just to add to the above, once you get the optimum wake out of the 2001 the SANs wake gets even bigger. Did that make any sense? Just like the 2001 be sure to have some weight in the bow area of the SAN. The only difference is that on a SAN if you have more wight towards the rear the wake gets rediculously steep! So bad that it's hurt's. |

| Mike, Glad the remote works, but I knew it did (glad your happy). I've tried the extra weight and I really like it, but my wife and her soar knees don't. I feel bad for the girl, if she lands in the flats you can see the pain on her face. We spent last weekend on our old boat and she was so happy that I think she wants to buy another 2001. Hopefully not, I really like all the room in the new boat. |
