Here are some pictures of the boys wakeboarding 2 weekends ago. Can you believe, they can already ollie? They are both staying on one side of the wake for now and riding on a very short rope, I'll extend the rope as they get more comfortable. Connor is 5 and Brian is 8.

I tried to tell them to get used to the feel of the board before trying anything new, but they both want to know when they can begin jumping the wake. I told them to learn to ollie and carve first, then I will let the rope out some, then learn to cross both wakes, then the jumps. Typical boys, no patience, none at all Laughing .

Yeah!!! I love seeing the kids out there, especially so young. My neighbor kids want to learn, but they don't swim. I told them we had to work on the swimming first.

wawakechic, both boys swim pretty well and they are taking lessons in July also. I agree - swimming is ultra important.

They are too cute!!! I bet they had a blast!! My parents used to take me skiing when I was about that size, and I thought it was the best thing since sliced bread!! I know it was because I was raised on the water that I love it so much to this day, those kiddoes of yours are gonna thank you for being such an awesome parent when they are fifteen and throwin' down like the pros!!

onedayatatime, haha, they are bummed we can't go this weekend (steering went in the boat and my hubby is fixing it this weekend).

So I'm taking them to Van's skate park in Orlando tomorrow to make up for it.

leslisa - Love that red hair!! I have a redheaded girl. Redheads always stick out in a crowd and catch my eye! She loves to board too when she's not being too much of a girly girl. Here's a pick of my red head..

kerriokie, You have a beautiful family!

Both of your kids are adorable. They would both blend with my clan. I have 2 redheads (plus a redheaded husband Very Happy ) and my son and I with dark hair.

About 35 feet tops. We have an inboard. They ride close to the back of the boat to feel safe. I ride on the swim platform so I can jump right into the water if need be. We ride without fat sacks at about 12 - 14 mph. They have plenty of time to get comfortable so we can increase speed, let out the rope, and put the fat sacks back in the boat.

Also with the little guys, I always start out in the water with them, you can explain 50 times what to do, but one time in the water so you can help them is a huge benefit. They drive off and leave me, but I don't care, I am so excited they like to go with us.

Probably lots more info than you need Laughing .

That's so cute! A friend of mine has a 5 year old son who got up for the first time last summer and just got the kid's hyperlite board. He told me he was going to do a backroll by the end of the summer and beat me.

Yep - my son has these grandiose ideas about throwing down a tantrum by the end of the year. We always tell him to slow down. He has no fear and is definitely learning at a faster pace than i did/am. The no fat sac is a definite. With the sacs full the wake is up to his waist, just too big for a little kid.

They are cuties, Lisa! Love that red hair. Seeing those pics reminded me of one of my favorite wakeboarding memories..... my hubby and I taught a friend's son how to ride. He was 8. He had always been in his big brother's shadow, not able to do the athletic things his brother always could. It was so cool to see this insecure little boy start out thinking he couldn't wakeboard and then prove himself wrong. He learned more in one day then I did my first summer. He was so happy!!! That was the best!

kerriokie, it's wonderful though. No fear, none at all. They start out with a little and when they discover they can get up, then it's like, well if I can get up, I can do flips too!! Wouldn't it be funny if he really did do a tantrum by the end of summer Laughing

christy, Kids are the best. Once they discover what they can do, it's so thrilling for them, it rubs off on us. Do you still take him out with you?
