Just saw this on FOXNEWS. Here is a description of it from another website. I think weapons like these will have a demoralizing effect on Iraq and will quicken the end of an impending war with Iraq.
| Quote: | U.S. May Use Massive New Bomb in Iraq — If the United States goes to war with Iraq, it may debut a huge new conventional bomb, according to ABCNEWS.com (Feb. 26). Called the "Massive Ordnance Air Burst" (MOAB) bomb, it is a larger, guided version of the Vietnam-era "Daisy Cutter." Like the Daisy Cutter, the MOAB would be dropped from the back of a C-130 transport aircraft, but unlike its predecessor, the MOAB would not be attached to a parachute and is equipped with a satellite guidance system. It could possibly be used for attacks against underground hardened defense facilities, or massed formations of enemy armor. Sources estimate that the MOAB is a 21,000-pound bomb; the Daisy Cutter is roughly 15,000 pounds.

Definitely a scary weapon, but we already have very scary weapons, including nuclear weapons. So, I'm not sure this bomb will be any more demoralizing than what we already have. I think the soldiers and people of Iraq probably realize they don't stand much of a chance in a military war already. _________________ Pat McCarthy |

To clarify: I think the US intends not to use them solely as a weapon of destruction, but also as a weapon of deterance once the war starts. The US may use a few on the edges of Iraq with little damage to the people as an effort to demoralize the soldiers. This in turn, could cause mass surrendering and lead to an early over throw of Saddam by his own people. I know the Iraqi people are positive that they cannot line up with our military from past experience.
This has nothing to do with the overall policy of war with Iraq-TOPIC!
I mean this weapon is pretty useless otherwise and not practical in most war-time situations! I just felt that its idea gives a pretty good view on the US's attack strategy! That's all and nothing more _________________ My opinion is my opinion!

Just a thought...
If Saddam had one of these, the US would definitely bomb him for having a weapon of mass distruction...
I wonder how they'd feel if they found he had Napalm or Agent Orange ???

Well, the basic chemical properties of Napalm and Agent Orange or readily available and easily duplicated. So, that being said-I am quite sure Iraq could and probably has produced these weapons! Basically, Iraq has limited means of dispersing weapons of this context! _________________ My opinion is my opinion!
