I got my wife up on my liquid evolution 142 with evo bindings this weekend. She absolutely loved it, now she wants her own board. The big prob with my board was the bindings would not tighten enough. What board/binding combos would work well for her. I doubt she will ever get really serious at boarding (she has some back probs) so we don't need to spend a lot of money on a board. Just a setup that will be comfortable for her and let her have a good time. Overtons has an LF search with Flite bindings for $269, but it says they are for size 4-12. That like a big size range to fit. They also have a rythm 134 with super suction for $220. Another option, CWB Nirvana 138 with comp bindings (size 6-9 available) for $250. I am kinda leaning towards the nirvana because the bindings seem like they are more sized for women.
BTW, she is 128, 5'6" (don't tell her I told you all!)
So, what do you ladies think? Thanks so much. You would not believe how excited I am she wants to get into the sport! _________________ Jet Noise, the Sound of Freedom! |

I did the same thing for my little sister over the weekend. I took her riding for her first time. She got up using my equipment. Now she is stoked and wants to go again. I am giving her my old setup-02 Premier 135 (with the fins) and trying to track down 02 Parks bindings for her. I ride the 02 Parks bindings currently and she seemed really happy with them.
I guess you can say that I am huge fan of the Premier. If you can't track down used, I would say this year's "Premier" shape (like the boards I have) are either the 04 ERC or NYX boards. I think but I could be wrong. A friend of mine just got the NYX and loves it. She loved my board as well. _________________ Our greatest glory consists not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall. Always fight. Never quit. Live to ride. |

I would suggest if she has back problems that you look carefully at the bindings that you get - in this category you get what you pay for! Check out the footbed -the cheap ones are usually made of lesser quality material (less shock absorbing) and are thinner. I'm sure you don't want to drop big cash on the Parks or Byerly bindings but you can use them for comparison. They have two layers of different density foam and are better than an inch think - softer landings and a smoother ride. If she wants bindings that tighten well look for two lacing areas - one over the footbed and one up the front or back. The other option is to find bindings that you can unscrew the overlays and tighten them down. Us girls don't have thick feet so it is important to find something that can grab down.
One last comment - I know Overton's has great prices but you might go to a local shop and demo a board or two. Sometimes they have great prices on last years models and then you could really see how the boot is gonna tighten down.
Keep us posted on her progress! You will love that she has joined you in this sport - my guy and I have finally found something recreational that we both enjoy and it has really been fun. |

I agree with the above. Bindings make a huge difference on the back and the knees. Might want to get a glucogen supplement too - I hear it helps (it takes a couple of months though).

As far as bindings go, I agree with the above, and from my experience the best bindings out of the whopping 3 pair that i have had has been the LF ultra's. However they are just a bear to get in and out of and I am guessing your special lady might appreciate a little easier entry/exit to keep her stoked about wakeboarding and not cursing "the stupid F@*$#! gear" and the like.
yayyyyyyyy new wakeboarder new wakeboarder. _________________ Hitting the backrolls this year.. |
