I've been thinking about getting an iPod lately, and I'm trying to figure out if it's worth the cost. I would definately use it for music, but I'm also thinking of getting the Belkin Media Reader to load my digital pictures onto it. I'm really into photography, and my Nikon D100 takes large files. Instead of spending a lot of money on extra cards, I could load them onto the iPod.

Has anybody used this? I know there are a bunch of photographers on this site. What are the positives and negatives and is it worth the money?

Zach-
I've heard the card reader can be a little slow, but that was 6 mo. ago so they might have improved it. I have a friend who went to europe for a week and he loaded all his pics onto his ipod so he didn't have to bring his computer. it worked fine for him.

Slooooooooooow.... About 30mins per gig. Plus It'll drain about 70% of the battery power from the iPod.

A good idea, but a flawed one. However, it's not like there are too many great alternatives out there.

Can you use it while the ipod is charging? I have enough card space to take the pics while I'm out shooting during the day, but if I'm travelling for weeks at a time, I could unload the pics to the iPod at night and have empty cards the next day. I'm going to Alaska for a week and Fiji for two weeks this summer, I'm hoping that this will work for those trips.
