Ok, lets start out that im a total newbie, i've been
wakeboarding for 5 years but can only do it about
3 days of the year so that adds up to about a week...
hahaha... Anyways, last year i couldn't even clear
the wake, but i was teaching myself, and now i've
found this site and have figured out why, was keeping
my legs bent instead of standing tall...

ANYWAYS, i get to be up there for a couple of weeks this year
and am going to try a 360 if I am able to clear the wake.
I can "ollie" and do a 180 out side the wake, but wasn't very
good at clearing it. Anyways, IF i have enough guts and
can get enough air i may try a backroll/tantrum but can't
figure out the difference. I look at the two in the movies
and can see a difference, but i dont know what it is.

Anyways, can you let me know what the difference of the
two tricks are?

Sorry for the long post.

I would go with a backroll.

Tantrum is when you surf up the wake HS and use a "trip flip" motion to send you into the backflip. In my opnion is harder to learn than a backroll.

Backroll is a basic backflip while going up the wake. You ride up and through the whole wake. You use the wake to simply flip you backwards. I think this is easier to do, but some people feel differently.

Take a look at a few other backroll and tantrum threads if you need more help.

studlystud08, sorry, but thats not quite right. A tantrum is a trip flip but a back roll is not. Colefooter gives a good description.

studlystud08 is right in his description of the movement. ya, a tantrum is a trip flip, but it is the motion of a straight backflip on a tramp. you are rotation on an axis that goes from side to side in your body. a backroll is like a reverse cartwheel. you rotate on an axis from front to back in your body. like a pole was stuck through your stomach to your back. you spin around that.
