I'm new to boating and wakeboarding.
I purchased a 90' bayliner to get me started (hey, it fit the budget) now its time for a tower. I got a pull behind a bayliner with a monkey bar a few weeks ago. It was nice being behind a tower, but I dont htink the sides of my boat are strong enough to support a tower, plus towers are crazy expensive.
In the same budget of my bayliner comes the idea of building my own. I could build a monkey bar (one hoop with a cable to the bow) that bolts to the floor and i'm sure ithe floor will be strong enough (or so i hope). I wanted something a little stronger so I was thinking a single hoop with another tube to the bow inplace of the cable. This relieves the rocking stress from the floor mounts when trailering and cruising. I got the idea from www.3rdleg.com. Now I'm wondering if this just looks totally hideous. If so, does the "monkey bar" (a hoop with a cable found at http://www.shuswapsnb.com/Towers.html) look better? Otherwise i'll just dish out the cash and a full summer of cutting, bending, and welding to put together a setup like t&t's sweet tower. btw I have basically the same boat if it helps any mental pictures. _________________ Drive it like you stole it. |

Hey gobeer net,
You can check my gallery for a cheap alternative - $80 pylon...
The third leg looks like an OK compromise, I guess the next step up is a MonsterTower....

gobeer net, the boat sides probably are strong enough. Monster Would be choice #1 for a tower.
If you are that worried about it, check out the Skylon "POD" or equivalent. They work quite well but do take up some interior space. _________________

check out the all the bayliners with monster towers, I bet your year and model or close to it are in here! Mine is and I love it! A pylon works but gets in the way and you will end up wanting a tower anyhow! but is a lot cheaper to build your own pylon!
