You want your legs to be as stiff as possible so they dont absord all the pop off the wake. You should do what feel comfortable to you, whether it be bending the knees a tad or straightening all the way, as long as you dont absord the pop. Thats teh whole purpose of 'standing tall' and stiffening your legs at the wake. Give it a shot and try to go all the way straight.

As far as landing goes, you want it to be tail to nose because nose to tail will usually result in some nasty crashes.

Just start with progressive edge, then when you get to the wake get a nice pop off of it like a ramp, dont actually jump. What i mean is ramp off of the wake instead of doing a ollie. Keep the handle in somewhat tight and your set.

hyperlitechick182 -

A couple of things really helped me this year and last:
First, on landing - keep your eyes up, look out at the horizon. I try to flick my eyes up just before hitting the wake; when I started doing that last year it helped tremendously. As you look, so you go - look down and you'll take a crash.

Second, someone (I can't remember who Embarassed, and I even searched!) posted a piece of advice this Spring that "clicked" for me on the whole standing tall thing: When standing tall, it's not a sudden straightening like you're doing a vertical jump on land. It's a smooth, steady straightening. I bend my knees on my approach, then just as I'm about to hit the wake, I start slowly straightening my knees. When I say "slowly", I'm talking over a one maybe two seconds (maybe slightly faster) - so it's not super slow. The point is that it's not instantaneous, it's not a sudden jerk of the knees. It's the same mentality as the progressive edge itself - think progressive edge, progressive standing tall. Wink

Good luck!

Dude, it's weird... I can jump well, but when I try and think about how I do it... I go blank. Just don't think too hard about anything, and don't try and go too big too soon. Oh yeah, the progressive edge thing is really important when your ready to go wake to wake.
