I have had a belt sqeeling issue for quite some time. The squeeling is not that loud.
My belt seems to start to squeel when the motor warms up. It usually happens alot quicker on hot days, but ofen take about 15 minutes of full throttle driving to start the "constant light airy squeeling noise".
The belt seems to be fairly tight.
Should I try a belt dressing kit or a bar of soap????
Or is it time to maybe change the belt??
Sorry for the bad news but best to replace the belt, always good to have a spare if that doesn't fix it but belt dressing, soap etc... are all bandaids to a problem.
The only other thing is make sure it is the belt and not a bearing in the water pump etc....
good luck. _________________ SWEET!
look at your mounting. are all the pulleys in line? are you running a high load? is water being squirted onto the belt?
nothing destroys bearings faster then overtightening a belt or leaving the belt on during long term storage. go for a half inch of slack on the longest run of the belt.
change the belt (keep your old one as a spare) and i believe merc did have some pulley issues. you might want to look into it.
