I was wondering how much room there is in a 1998 Mastercraft Prostar 205 to put sacks with out them getting in the way a lot. I know the rear seat lifts up so you can fit a sack under that. I believe there is also a small ski locker in the rear of the boat. Does anyone know how big that locker is (dimensions or how much weight could fit in there). Also, how big is the ski locker in the floor up front?

I used to have a '93 MC 205 and I know the hull on the '98 is going to put out a better wake since it's the same as the X-2. But, I could probably only fit about 300 lbs in the font ski locker on my old boat because it was so small. Also, did they widen the area between the engine box and the sides of the boat any between '93 and '98? I know the new mastercrafts have a ton more room in them than the old ones. Thanks for any information anyone can provide!

We'll have to see. I really want a v-drive (nautique super sport or mc 205v) but I can't find what I want. I found a good deal on a MC 205 DD and I just wanted to see how much more room is in them compared to my old boat. By the way, if anyone knows of any Nautique Super Sports or MC 205v's for sale, please let me know. Thanks.

It looks like a nice boat, but I really want a v-drive or maybe a '97 or newer Prostar 205 DD. I don't think the '99 air nautiques are the same hull as the super air's either.

I've a 97 X-star same as 98 205. Mine doesn't have the rear ski locker you mentioned. The space under the seat for a sac requires you to lift the seat up to sunbed height.
I use a Fat seat in the rear (1200+#s) and a sac in the walk thru-bow area (500#s). The rear is OK though still a little annoying to step on as it is not rock solid to stand on. the bow is as big a pain as you would imagine, stepping on a sac to get thru.
But I got a smokin deal on it and I'm on the water with a wake above the knee and the power to pull anyone fully weighted

Actually the X-2 is the '99-02 Xstar which was a V drive, I assume it is different though I have never really looked into the hull differences.
So the difference between your 93 and the 98 may not be that big.
Cheers,

I know the X-2 is the same hull as the 99-'02 X-Star. But, the '97 and newer Prostar 205's have the same exact hull as the X-2's also, it's just in a direct drive form. So, your hull is the same exact thing as the new X-2's. My old boat was decent, but it was definitely more of a ski wake than a wakeboard wake. I know what you mean about the sacks though, that's why I think I'll just wait and try and find a decent super sport or 205v.

jwat142, right about the hulls. The in laws have a '99 205 DD that we've ridin behind since new and we may have tried about every weight configuration. I can try and get those dimensions for you if I stop out there this week.

I have a 1997 205 dd. I put two big sacs on either side of engine compartment, about 250lbs of lead under the seat in the rear and about 350 lead in the front. The sac in front is a pain the arse, so I use lead instead. Not real practical to put a sac in the rear under seat/sundeck, I don't think the rear ski locker exists.

i went out on a 99 205 a couple of weeks ago, we had a locker sac (400#) in the locker no prob, a fat seat, and the wake tank or whatever they call it that goes under the platform. It was a pretty sweet setup, kicked out a badass wake.

I second that - the Prostar 205 direct drive puts out a freaking MOUND of AWESOMENESS at 70 feet. One of the best wakes I have ever tried. Most definately worth counting in anyones boat decision making process.
