| i found a pritty sweet deal on an 88, but the only thing is one of the head gaskets might be blown, it still runs so idk i just talked to the guy and thats what he said, does anyone know how much it would be to replace it, or rebuild the 454 engin.

| You could practically do that yourself. Go buy a manual for the big block chevy about that year and you could do it all yourself, I think. As for rebuilding a 454, my buddy just blew his 302 in his truck and got a brand new 350 put in for about $3k. What condition is the boat in? I know these boats throw a nic wake.

| A blown head gasket wont be to terrible to do, as long as you didnt crack the head by it getting to hot, which would be pretty hard to do with the constant flow of cool water from the lake (cant run out of antifreeze like a car!!). Be sure and make sure the oil isnt milky looking like water has gotten in it very much from the leaking gasket. Because if the oil has water in it you have bigger problems.

Water in the oil = cracked block = useless engine
This means that you will have no choice but to replace, not rebuild, but replace the engine.
