My boat doens't have a tower or pole in it because it's older and the old owners used it for other things. Now that I have it I've been learning to wakeboard. I can clear the wake both directions when I jump and I'm using a little tripod thing on the back of the boat. When I stand in the boat the rope is tied at about waiste high...
Today I ordered a skylon pylon (didn't get a tower b/c I'm getting a new boat in next year) and it's supposed to be 7 feet tall. My question is...how much will this help my jump height? I've heard several different things. Right now with the waiste high thing I get like 3-4 feet of air. Will I jump significantly higher with a 7 foot pole on board now? Thanks guys. |

You won't jump significantly higher but you will have more hang time/trajectory if that makes sense. Wake size/shape is more indicative of actual height, whereas a tower/skylon allows you to continue on your trajectory. If the rope is lower as you take off the wake it will want to pull you down, with the rope higher you are better permitted to continue on your trajected path.

You will definatly get more hang time. You might notice a little more air at first. This will allow you to get higher. A regular pylon that is around waist height will cut off how high you can go. Good luck with the new pylon  |

Yeah i just bought that exact same pylon and as before.. the rope was hooked basically on the level of the water (87 bayliner) I only rode the pylon once so far.. and the rope was way too long and i was out too far so i didnt get much air but i could wake to wake with that tiny bit of wake so.. does it help? not really sure yet till i cut the rope shorter.. ill be going up north this weekend with any luck and Ill get to try it again.
Bottom line:: Have yet to notice improvement from a 7 foot raise (since my hook point was in the water before) However i need to shorten my line.
