I put a New Pioneer CD player in my 96 Mastercraft last year. I had it for about a month and it was acting up, so I brought it back to the dealer that installed it. They told me that I didn't have a good enough box to protect the cd player from water, and that my player had gotten wet, and ruined it. So, I purchased another one, and had them put a watertight box to protect it. Last week, same old problem, cd player keeps shutting off. Back to the dealer, need another cd player. THIRD ONE!!!! He is telling me that it is getting wet. Has anyone else purchased these disposable players? And how come my amp, which is also under the dash is never getting wet???

B.S. Take it back, get your money and go somewhere else. Mad

If you are not color blind, it will take you less than an hour to install a new deck yourself. Smile

I have an Eclipse deck that has NO protection and it works like a champ. Might be a problem with a ground or bad power connection to the deck. Is your AMP cutting out too, or just the deck?

MMoody, read the post. He stated that he took it back to the dealer that INSTALLED it, so telling him that the deck was not installed in a boat would not work. Come ON man, pay attention! Rolling Eyes

One more thing tdurepo, since the DEALER installed it without waterproofing the deck, don't you think that THEY should be responsible for not installing it correctly?
Did they give you the option to install a weatherproof enclosure?
And by calling the enclosure "weatherproof", it implies that water will NOT be able to get inside the deck to do damage. More evidence to me that your dealer doesn't know what the hell they are talking about.

Many dealers that I have used are GREAT for boating repairs (fiberglass, engine, boat electrical), but when it comes to auxillary equipment like stereos and such, they are still a bit behind the curve.

Go back, get your $$$ and install the deck yourself or find a good custom installer for cars, they can hook you up right.

Sorry for the rant, it is a SWEET day here in Austin and I am stuck at work. Crying or Very sad

screw weatherproof enclosures...the warranty is just what it is and for whatever reason it being broke its under warranty an dhe installed it so it needs to be replaced and installed for free..

i have a Kenwood Cd player/head unit that the face pulls off of it..nothing special just a 200 car head unit ..i put it in myself 4 years ago and no problems yet..it has a cover ,the one that comes in the boat right in the dash but i dont keep it down evry much and my boat is covered but stored outside..no problems whatsoever..hes an ahole trying to pull one over on you..he owes you a radio or your money back..id ask for another deck or my money back..then pull your radio out and look around and see if in fact water is getting directly in it from the top and backside underthe dash..if it is fix the leak or move the deck somewhere else..

My amp does not shut off. The radio will quit and then I get all kinds of noise from the tower speakers (those are hooked to the amp), and a ton of what sounds like motor noise from the powered sub, but that is because the sub runs through the amp. The dealer does say that the enclosure has water in when he takes it out, but how??? I have a sealed enclosure and it is under the covered dash of my boat. This is not my first day driving the boat, but if it were I don't think I could ever get a roller to come that far over the bow. I can't imagine what it is, but a new deck does fix the problem, but you guys are right. This is the last time that shop will se my boat.
