Moomba owner (platform problem)

sup yall moombies, you probably have that problem too (you sure do)

here's the problem :

everytime the boat is not moving, the platform always slap into the rack that hold the platform. it happen because the platform is alway half way in the water when the balast are full. the rack that hold the platform is not tight ennough, so the water push the platform up and down all the time.

here's the solution :

I took the platform off and I put silicon in the racking and put it back in place and put arround 150 lbs on the platform until it gets dry just to make sure it's stays at the right place is the racking.

I just hope I won't have to take it off.

yeah, i am gonna look at mine tomorrow and see if i can see what you are talking about.

Although, i have to remove my platform to fit the boat in the garage.

I know what you mean, I have a 2004 Mobius LS, when you are bobbing in the water the swim grid makes an anoying noise while it gets pushed up and down by the water, even though there is less than 1/4" of play. As I keep mine moored and have to pull it out of the water every couple weeks to wash and wax i take my platform off every couple weeks and your solution seems more long term. I might try making some cedar shims to jam into the braket and see if it stops the noise.

I have a Supra and the same deal. Let me know how the shim works. I have to remove my swim platform so often I need a tempoary fix.....

Get a platform made out of lead. Instant ballast right at the back of the boat (so no need for fat sacs) and doesn't float so no "rocking" problem when in the water. Also, unlike the silicone solution, wouldn't be permanent as you could remove it easily (assuming if you could lift it) Exclamation

FYI, I know some guys with an MC X5 and they have problems with their platform. The securing pins wear and break or drop out. I suspect the source of the probelm is the same - floating platform under ballasted conditions that bounces around when the water is choppy or even when moored when the lake is in use.

MrBlean, Nope our moomba does the same the platform pins are loose its how they all are!.

I would say do the silicon but let it harden without the platform on then pop the platform on and it will pressure hold it tight but not be stuck.

You could measure how thick a bead of silicon you need first. you can always go a little to thick because it will compress.
