|
|
I've mounted a Monster Tower on my '92 Sunsetter. I added 3 - 4 layers of glass in the mounting area. I was just wondering if any one else with this boat needed to do this before mounting there tower.
The legs are mounted on the sides, not the top of the gunnel. _________________ SLIP IT ON AND RIDE IT! |

Doug, You could always just get a large backing plate and put a good amount of Marine-Tex on it to fill and inconsistancies. I think that would work just as well and not be as much trouble. _________________ If I agreed with you we would both be wrong. |

I have an '89 Malibu Skier that I'm about to mount a tower to, but I was going to do a top-side mount. Does anyone have experience with that? I'm wondering if I need to beef up the fiberglass or if a 1/4" rubber or neoprene pad on both sides of the fiberblass will be all I need.
Any thoughts, suggestions, or advice.
Thanks.

If you look at my profile, you will see a roll-bar tower that is top mounted on the boat. There was no additional structural "beefing up" required for it. _________________ SLIP IT ON AND RIDE IT! |

| I owned a '91 Malibu Skier Euro F3. I'd think you'd need to install a rubber pad and back plate to prevent any fiberglass or gelcoat damage from the tower stresses under load. The decks from that era never contemplated the installation of a tower..... |
