With all the rain we've been getting in northern illinois, my marina is completely flooded out... I mean the parking lot, everything.

Here's some pics I took today of the mess....

Yes, that is my boat on the lift that's ready to float away, but with the water levels so high I can't even use the ramp to try to get my boat out of there.

jvanick, just tie is on tight, and watch for the water level to drop, so your boat doesn land crooked on the lift and mess something up...

that looks like the place i launched from today, i had to go so far back into the water to get my boat off, the water was up to the bottom of my doors, then i had to swim out to the floating dock after i parked my truck...it was fun though!!!!!

we're planning on the recovery operation tomorrow.. we're just going to drive the truck though the water until we get the trailer on the ramp.... the wild thing is having the truck fully in the water too... it'll be quite a sight.. I'll try to get somebody to take pics.

It's insane up there. I heard the Des Plaines river will crest on Thursday 12 feet above normal! Shocked

Stay safe out there J.

That really sucks, I am sorry to hear it. If you are going to be driving the truck in the water, be sure to pop the hood and locate where your engine intakes air that way you know how deep you can go without causing serious damage to your car. Look for the big black air-filter box and trace down its intake! Sucking up water = bad.

Good luck! If I lived in the area I would be glad to help. I think if I saw anyones boat in trouble I would try to save it even if the people were my worst enemys. lol

No joke NAW, my aunt lives really close to the river in des plaines and we have been sand bagging for the last three days. The lake we are on up in WI is completely Slow No Wake until further notice due to the extremely high waters. Bummer.

jvanick, i believe you folks to the north have seen the worst. Gurnee has reported the river crested and water is receding. Good luck though.

NAW.... The river is UP TO 12 feet, which is still almost 4 feet above normal. They are saying the river should be below flood level by sunday, however they are also predicting rain the next few days.

It sucks up here now. EVERYTHING is flooding. What normally is a 40 minute drive home from work (in traffic) took me 2 hours yesterday. All the roads north of where I work are flooded and they're pushing people south. What a nightmare.

WHEN WILL THIS END!!!

All you should do is lower the lift all the way down. When it's completely down, the boat floats, unless the river were to drop 4 feet, which I highly doubt will happen in the next week.

wow! we are having the exact opposite problem, the water has dropped so much that we would need another 3 sections of dock to get out there....so in the meantime when the dock ends start wading...

I picked up the boat today.... we had to drive it across the parking lot to get it on the trailer... if the water keeps coming up, I'll probably go help the marina guys with sandbagging.

we have so much water like the people that fish in our canal have to stand like 6 feet back on a hill to fish its ridiculous and we have like a low bridge for like a highway in our canal and our boat cannot go under it because the water is so high with our tower it sucks
