I had a chance to do a bit of wakeboarding on Lake Ida in Palm Beach/Delray area of Florida this weekend, yesterday actually. I saw a lot of older ski boats on lifts there, and saw a few older boats with extended pylons and a few wakeboarders. But I saw about 50 Jet Skis on that small lake - and couldnt believe what I was seeding down there.
We had a few JetSkis pass closer to us than I think I've ever seen. The people we were hanging with said the jet skis are somewhat of a problem on the lake but we saw about 3 near accidents in the 2 or 3 hours we were on the lake. Needless to say it made me feel very nervous. Usually on our lake we see, on a busy day, 1 jetski for every 4 boats - even 1 for every 5 boats. But on Lake Ida the raito was more like 5 jetskis for every 1 boat. It was insane. None of them following any of the laws - some of them clearly endangering our riders... It was scray to say the least!
Does anyone on here ride on Lake Ida and see some of the madness on that body of water?
Thanks,
Erik |

I would have to say that the majority of jet skiers are complete idiots. For some reason they don't realize that it is a boat they are riding. _________________ Does this rag smell like chloroform?

I dont live down there but my brother does - and if I buy a Super Air next spring, I'll probably use it on Lake Ida during the winter when I'm down there. The plan is to buy the boat for use up here in MA during the summer then tow it down to Florida for the winters... But Lake Ida would be a likely place we'd use it, some of the time. But what madness on that Lake!
Hollywood, I dont know what a DNR office is. |
