Does anyone else think that they are really over priced. I could go out and get a real 6 foot surfboard custom made by hand and exactly how i want pretty much, for like 350. BUt a little pahse five board and other ones are like 300.

all wakeboard gear is a little over priced in my opinion. but some people with bigger budgets have no problem paying 500 $ plus for boards.

For the compresion molded boards built like wakeboards, or the skim boards ,yes, i think they are over priced. But for the epoxy boards they're cheaper than the epoxy surf boards I've seen.

I have tons of surf boards, from local shapers here in santa cruz, and boards that I've shaped myself. I can tell you that any fiberglass board you take behind the boat will be ruined within a season. The amount of time they're in the sun, the dings from being thrown around, and the pressure dings from standing on them so much will absolutely ruin a board in no time. The real problem is that you spend so much time riding the board(vs padling and waiting around for waves) that you'll develope bubles on the deck, where the fiberglass seperates from the foam. The other negetive is the shape of surf boards. THey're not shaped for riding wakes, they're shaped for surfing waves. The only good shaped surfboard I've ridden behind the boat is greg nelsons. But he and Depp worked hard with their shaper, knew exactly what they wanted in board design.
Since you are laying down 400-500 for a board, I'd reccomend test riding them all to see what you like best. That what I did, and found that the inland surfer 5'6" was exactly what I was looking for in a board. www.inlandsurfer.com
