"cuz i just can't seem to find one as simple and good quality as mac's imovie.. "

That's the "problem" with Mac software in general. Once you use it for any length of time you're hooked, you can never go back!

Pinnacle studio is probably (IMO) the best cheap / easy editor for windows you can get. It is however plagued by stability problems but you'll learn ways around them quick. It is under $100 as well unlike premiere, avid express, or a EMAC or Imovie.

I have both premiere and studio 8 on my PC and Final cut express2 and I movie on My G5.

Premiere is OK but not great. Adobe has been getting crap from the apple crowd since Adobe stopped making premiere for macs to try and spite apple. Sure didn't work.

When FCP came out Adobe just couldn't sell Premiere anymore to the Mac crowd. There was also a stretch there where it really wasn't up with the times on the PC either. With Pro it appears Adobe is back in the game but may be stuck on the bench. It may be that Premiere will never regain it's lofty status even on the PC. Premiere was the first editor I ever bought and I remember thinking how cool all those A/B barndoor transitions previewing away were. A lot of the original Premiere editors of the mid 90's switched to other offerings and have never gone back.

windows movie maker is the same concept as imovie: a video editor that comes with the OS for everyday user to use. I never tried to use movie maker but have also never heard anyone try and tell me its any good, I've heard good stuff about imovie from many people making home videos.

BUT IMO, anything on a Mac will be touted as a better product not nessecerly because it is better but because your general windows user in ignorant of the Environment. Sure there are Mac users that no nothing except that they payed more for there imac because it looked pretty and they heard someone mumble windows sucks BUT, those people with Macs are not bombarded with Spyware, P2P apps, "Download this to optomize interent conection" bull crap. Your general home windows user knows no better then to say yes to anything when installing new software. Most Windows based Video editors will run stable and smooth on XP or 2000 if the PC is only used for video production which means NO kazaa, Bearshare, Webshots, and other shareware crap that lets other apps piggy back in. Not to mention the amount of windows apps you can get and pile on to your system.

Since most people use windows, most companies and virus inventors program only for windows. If macs ever took over the market share they would suddenly be plagued with issues, EVEN though OSX is built to be much more stable and secure then windows.

I am a Windows and Mac user.

That would never happen....but very good points. I find it funny that guys put down Windows and brag about how much better Mac is, blah blah blah. All I'm saying is this...

It's too bad 95% of the business world is in Windows environment. Laughing

jumalian, Yeah, theres no way Apple could take over market share, that was just part of my point. Not many people are keen on dropping $800 on a entry level system that they'll have to learn from sratch and can't upgrade.

Software support is KING, When Apple sells enough Macs, software companies will start spending money on Mac software design. BUT Apple won't sell enough Macs untill software companies start spending money on Mac Software design.

"It's too bad 95% of the business world is in Windows environment."

You got that part right!

"Software support is KING, When Apple sells enough Macs, software companies will start spending money on Mac software design. BUT Apple won't sell enough Macs untill software companies start spending money on Mac Software design."

That's a great point and why most of the good Mac software is provided by Apple. When Jobs came back and killed the Mac clones any chance that Apple would ever gain serious market share went out the window. Of course the company has flourished under his direction.

It was sarcasm, RD. You express so much hate on Windows on the boards...just thought I'd be a smart ass.

jbt200, $799 right here if you're looking for a new computer. I use a 4 year old 400Mhz G3 iMac, and it works fine, although it's a little on the slow side. You could probably get one like mine on ebay for a couple hundred or less. I would recommend at least getting a G4, though, if you're buying second hand.

Never used a mac but I have pinnacle studio 8 for pc and I like it. It is super easy and there are some really cool effects. I know its not "pro level" editing software but for the little stuff I like to do it works really well. Plus it's only $80.
