From the descriptions it sounds like you answered your own question, or at least you wanna hear someone say "get the malibu". But, without some prices nobody can give you any advice.

The X-7 is a demo with 90 some hours and is priced at 38,000.
It comes with the tower, rqcks, speakers, awesome system, ballast bag, and built in pump for two other sacks, perfect pass, a huge engine, and pretty much everything I can get with the sportster. The X-7 has a walk thru bow though. The question is what can produce a better wake.

Oh yeah, the Sportster is around 38,000, probably less.

What, $38,000 for a Sportster! Shocked That's like a $90,000 Boxster, it's possible, but I've only seen 1 or 2. Even with the options you listed it shouldn't be more than $31,000. Are we talking US dollars here, or some other currency? Smile

Either way they're both pretty sweet boats.

The sportster is 38 with every possible upgrade/option/customization. The sportster out of the box is around 30. The problem is, I can only have 20 ft boats on my lake. There is question in the measuring of the x-7, if it is 20 ft. or not.

Why dont you look into a standard wakesetter? It will kill the X-7 and the X-9 for wakeboarding and you should be able to get it pretty well loaded for around $38. If you are serious about wakeboarding and are willing to spend $38 then that is your best choice. The Sportster and X-7 have very comparable wakeboard wakes...on the small side. Check out the Malibu website for pricing. Just figure in another $3k for a trailer. The other big plus is that the standard wakesetter is much easier to sell used.

What about the Response? For 2003 it has a walk through windshield and is a deeper, more heavy boat.

The Response LX is 20 ft, but it dosen't have a true walk thru.
I just think you can get more for your money with Malibu but the Sportster you will find is too small.
We had a boomerang at the beging of last year and by June we were looking for something else.

you can get a wakesetter for under $38,000. The dealership I work at sold last years demo boat for around 36 k. If was a wakesetter lxi, wedge, perfect pass, pop up box light, monsoon, ballast, 2 pair pull up cleats, 3 pairs of tower speakers, 2 subs, 3 amps, crossovers, and only 25 hours...so i think you are being gouged for a 38,000 sportster. I have seen nicely equiped responses sell for around 32...

I think we need to keep this in mind to help him!

    I think the X-7 is 19'8"
The MC x7 may seat a few more comfortably, but the Malibu with the base engines should outperform! It would probably come down to the dealer! Are you getting it from NO WAKE?
