|
|
I made this slider last year and rode it a couple times before the water got cold and we put the boat up. It did do some damage though, recked a brandnew balance I got and then chipped a mini squirt up a good bit. So this year I want to somehow transform it into a floating slider and cover up the frame. Any sudgestions on how to make it float and whats best to float it with would be appreciated. Also whats the best thing to cover the frame with? _________________ Trying to get into some wakeboarding photography, anyone out there in the Orlando area with some skills wanna hook up for a shoot? Well I was thinking of doing that but it is already hard enough to move, in the pics its not quite where we hit it, we have to move it up because my parents freak when someone we don't know hits it. So I was thinking that if it floated it would be easier to move. Also how does the plywood do with all the weathering it would get, I know I used to have a half pipe and that wood didnt do too well, it even had a couple a layers of paint on it and some wood treating sealer or soemthing of the sort. _________________ Trying to get into some wakeboarding photography, anyone out there in the Orlando area with some skills wanna hook up for a shoot? We used some type of internal connector. I forget where my dad eventually got it from but the people at home depot were idiots so I dont think we got it there. All you do is glue em together and it works perfectly. When my dad gets home I'll post where we got it and maybe have a better description of it. _________________ Trying to get into some wakeboarding photography, anyone out there in the Orlando area with some skills wanna hook up for a shoot? | Yea, the graffiti looks kinda crappy. Id just paint the plywood a solid color like a red or orange and make a design over that. Other than that the slider itself kicks ass! |

Dude that is a nice slider. Very nice construction. Yeah I would paint it one solid color and then cut out some huge stencils of like stars or your crews name and tag it like that. That way it still stands out but doesnt look all ghetto. You need to drag that thing over some land and it would be a sweet land gap. Its so stable that it wouldnt budge. What did it run you to build it? Whatever you do dont float it. They arent as stable and its just a hassle to move aroud. We have 6 now and they are all posted into the mud. _________________ Everything in Between is what matters the most...

Thanks for the comments. It probably took me around 160-200 bucks to build excluding the plywood which we got from a construction site. I got to get rid of it though cause some deusch bags on our lake keep trying to hit it and my mom doesnt want to be liable(sp) for it. So if anyone wants it who lives around lake mary fl pm me. _________________ Trying to get into some wakeboarding photography, anyone out there in the Orlando area with some skills wanna hook up for a shoot? thats a total bummer man. Yeah we had a newbie think he could hit our double kink first try slider even after we said not to. Fell underneath and broke his tibia clean in half but we didnt get in any trouble for it. _________________ Everything in Between is what matters the most...

YOU: Mom it is in the ground i can't take it out
MOM: you find a way to get it off the water
it's not like you mom is going i try to take it off the lake herself

Well when I was gone in CR for a week on a surf trip her and my bro managed to get it out with my truck and some rope. Stupid a$$es broke one of the end supports now I have to fix it before It'll go back in. Were gonna put it on the other side of the lake where there isnt any homes so were not reliable for it anymore . Then I'll get some pics of us hittin it and post em. Only thing thats gonna be hard is moving it, think a nautiqe and a ganoe will work? _________________ Trying to get into some wakeboarding photography, anyone out there in the Orlando area with some skills wanna hook up for a shoot? put about every suport put on a life jacket and that will keep it afloat when you tow it over of it will sink way in the water and it will get heavy _________________ www.Crawlinbc.com |

WCR, that last post was worded really weird. what, do you mean put a life jacket on the slider then tow it and let it sink in place when you want to set it in the lake? _________________

When you tow it to the other side of the lake the slider will sink into the water..... So put a lifejacket at every support that will keep the slider afloat and it won't sink!!!!
When you fix it make sure that is isn't in the water for long periodes of time before you set up the slider at the other end of the lake
Because the wood will get waterlogged the it will weight 10 times more the it does when it is not water logged

WCR, i dont think life jackets would be enough to support a slider. especially one of that size. i dono maybe put some big blocks of foam or something under there. _________________

That's expensive. I'd ask around and put it on a couple of canoes or alumanum fishing boats. Just tow it over and drop it in. _________________ Wakeboard/Waterski/Kneeboard/Ride Random Objects

I think you meant "so we're not liable for it anymore."
If you don't want to be held liable, build some gates across the top and keep them locked with a warning sign. That should do the trick. |
