My 2001 X-Star is sold, the guy picked it up last night. My question is, having sold my X-Star for 5k less than i paid for it back in 2001, can i expect to see the same resale value in the SSV, malibu or the Cal air pro V? I had 15 or so calls the first week, and the second person that came to see it bought it. So can I expect the same from those boat mfs listed above? Please help I'm getting close on my next boat purchase. P.S the Master Craft dealer says the 2003 is being released in a mounth or so....$63k for the boat .....

I would try to stay with the big 3 if your main concern is resale value.

KACImax, I called three people when I went to sell my Alpina (Cal-Air). The third person was more than willing to pay what I was asking. I sold it with 211 hours on it for $700.00 less than I paid for it. So much for the big three resale value theory.

Licker-My main concern is not JUST re-sale value. The re-sale value is very important, the drivability of the boat is important, the wake is important and finally the dealer is important. To purchase a boat thats 45k and in one year it has a loss of 10k, thats not a good investment. Yes I know boats are not investments, however if you buy it right you dont have to take a bath in the neg equity in 2 years. I keep a boat for two years and than sale and buy a new modle. I would've stayed with MC, but $65k for a boat that hasnt even been proven.....NO WAY.

Phaeton-Hey thanks for the info, I still need to go see jeff about that Cal Pro V.

Not sure if this helps or not, but a little example anyhow......

Last year, I sold a left over 2001 Calabria Sport Comp VTS. That is the base model vdrive that Calabria has out. It did have a sony cd player, and a tower, but that was about it for options. That boat, with the tandem axle trailer, sold for 34,750. Granted the customer got one hell of a deal since it was a left over model. Point being, looking at the NADA retail value book the average retail is 36,090. If the proof isn't in the numbers, then something is wrong.

Phaeton...loved the big 3 comment!!

Kaci, There's a saying out " There's a sucker born every minute" well obviously it's true from the posts above. Yes you may find a sucker and sell him your boat for only a couple hundred less than you paid for it, but do you want to take that chance?? What Phaeton isn't telling you is that he bought his(cal-air) with 200 hrs on it couldn't stand it after 11 hrs and took a $700 hit on it just to unload it quickly. Are you gonna be happy with something other than the big three?? I mean lets face it, you had one of the best boats made. Be smart man!

Just messin Phaeton!

XTier, That's funny
The only reason I sold mine was because we wanted a bigger boat. The only choice for us was the Pro-V. Way better designed boat over the LSV. JMO

Not messin with you! Razz
