I just learned to wakeskate this weekend on my new concave cassette 41. I can ollie a few inches and cross both wakes. What should be some first tricks to try? I tried a powerslide and the board came out from under me and i somehow went from sliding out backwards to a faceplant?!?!

No powerslides because guess what, the board isn't attached to your feet anymore. Physics will explain what happened to you there.

Anyway, try some lipslides and boardslides on the wake, that will give you a better feel of where to be on the board when sliding (directly above it). FS lipslides are the easiest to learn.

smlparksguy133,

Yea defnitly try some lipslides next time you go out. Maybe some surfave 180s and 360s. When you feel comfortable doing surface 180s and lipslides, try a frontside liplside ad come out switch.

What's the trick to keeping the board under your feet? I've watched the Snap DVD, and it states to bring your knees up as you leave the wake, but that hasn't seemed to work for me yet. When I have somehow managed to keep the board under my feet, it always seems that I end up bouncing off of it upon the landing.

Go to www.intleague.com Their trick list follows a good general progression.

all you have to do is commit to the jump, cut hard enough to clean the wake and keep a solid stance all the way thru, it helps if you begin by only jumping half the wake first to get a feel for it.
