| I just had an issue with my mako wakeboard rack on my moomba and wondered if anybody else has seen this. I have only had the boat out twice now and yesterday I was going through fairly rough water getting to the windward side of the lake where the water is good. The rack mounts by sliding a square tube on a square post and the tube deformed and bent causing the entire rack to fall off the mount. I will certainly be more careful about using the racks in rough water but am concerned this might be a bit of a design flaw that will continue to happen. Any thoughts? |

Moblsv,
I assume it was a wakeboard rack with 2 boards in it when it happened. We recently chose Mako as the company that will supply all our accessories after a lot of searching and testing. I've been out jumping wakes big time in my boat trying to see if I could get one to fail (OK, it was a lot of fun as well) and they have held up with no problem. From what I've seen they do as good if not a better job than anyone else I found.
Love to hear of any other issues with Mako racks, and I know they would as well.

moblsv,
It sounds like there is definetly a problem with your equipment, I don't know if it is an issue with your tower or in fact the rack. But, I think you should take back to the dealer asap and tell them what happened. That is definetly not typical and I'm sure Mako and/or Skiers Choice will do everything they can to keep you satisfied with your purchase....keep us posted with what your dealer says and sorry to hear about the problem. _________________ www.MidwestMilitia.net |

I just thought of something. The racks you have are the ones from the factory because they mount onto a square stud, right? There is a clamp on the rack that tightens the rack onto the square stud....You may need to make sure that the clamp is tightening enough. If it isn't, you can adjust the pressure the clamp puts on the stud very easily by tightening the little round nut opposite of the clamp.....PM me if you need a better explaination, its still early here and I haven't had any coffee _________________ www.MidwestMilitia.net |
