hi all, i started boarding at the end of last season and something has been bugging me. I ride a motive 140 and am about 5'11" and 190. I can edge heelside just fine, but if i try to edge hard toeside my back binding catches water on the heel and it knocks me down. Could this be because i put too much weight on my back foot? Am i not supposed to point the board in the direction that i am heading? Basically, when i edge toe side i angle my board like this // is that to sharp?[/b]

I am kind-of having trouble understanding how water is catching your heel. I think you should lean away from the rope. I think you can edge sharper, that doesn't seem to be the problem. Your weight should be distributed so that you have about 40% on your front foot and 60% on your back. Just a slight difference.

toe side is harder to leanr at first but you just gotta stick it out take ap rogressive cut away from the boat and stand tall at the wake dont try and pop your first few times just get the feel of landing on the downslope

thanks for the replys, I have been riding with about 75% or more of my weight on my back foot (I guess I'm afraid of being pulled over the front of the board). When I go out today I will try standing a little more even.

jewjewjosh,
yea kinda what billy bob was saying ha, anyway
1) u need to stand tall, dont break at the waist when ur edging in & bend ur knees a little
2) when u start ur progressive edge toward the wake slowely bring your back hand towards ur front hip (right hand towards left hip for reg foot)
3) most of the weight is gonna be in this right arm, and it should be straightend
4) stay on ur edge, and ride up the wake
5) wait for the pop and ur money!
GOOD LUCK Very Happy

If your digging your edges in, try to lower the handle more right down towards your hips.

dont really try to lean in towards the wake, because then you will just fall over, make it more like leaning away from the boat, also dont try to go all out and erally fast your first few times, because you gotta go slow before you go fast
