I'm having a hard time deciding what to get. I need help!!
Defcon has 2-Pioneer 6.5 k series
Bullet has 2-Polk 6.5
I think they'll both be good, however the bullets are a couple hundred dollars more.
Any suggestion???
thanks

how about buying the cheapest pair for the cans, and going to circut city and getting the speakers you want for less $ and selling the ones that come in the cans???
thats my thought though!!!

how hard is removing 6 screws and replacing them, plus you can take the empty cans to either there or to an audio store and they should put a few different pairs in and let you try them for no cost extra.....
but if you absolutly have to have one of the aformentioned sets, i would go with the polk...they are (in my opinion) better speakers...
when i use to run my old store, i had a representitive come out and compare them to bose, and with the comparison it made for alot of sales, of course that was a few yerars back also....so alot of stuff has changed since then
or if your into tradition, look how long pioneer has been in buisness, they have a reputible company, and have had for a long time!!!
it is really a personal prefrence...
how much wattage are you gonna put on them?

Well, I have no audio knowledge what so-ever, that's why I have the shop install and wire everything...maybe someday.
I was thinking of going for at least 100-150 amps per speaker. I guess either wire speakers together for 2 ohms and go for 2 channel 550 or 600 amp. or go 4 channel 600 +. I was thinking of the kicker kx550.2 or maybe pheonic gold ti600.2 for 2 ohm.
There you go my max. audio knowledge...I'm tapped now

WOW!!! yeah you need some work on that!!!
first things first, its wattage not amps,
second, you cant just put 600 watts to a speaker in 2 ohms, it dosent work likt that...
let me break it down for you:
1) decide the quality of the noise we all call music you like to listen to, pick your speakers based on the clarity at loud volumes...you dont want to hear a buzzing noise with say....50+ watts at it, it needs to soud just like it does at half volume, when its all the way up
2) once you have chosen the set of speakers you like, check the "RMS" power rating, then stay around 5 watts under that
example, polks would say 80 watts RMS nominal, it means you should push 75 watts to that speaker, if it says 80 watts RMS, and 120 watts max, it means it is ok to OCCASIONALLY!!! go above 80 watts for just for a few sec, and constant wattage over that will blow the voice coil...hence no more speaker!!!!
3) once you have choosen your speaker set up, decide the number of speakers you would like to run, be it 2 4, or 10....then decide on an amp for that amount..
4) When you read people putting a set of speakers at 2 ohms, it means they are combining 2 speakers that are rated at 4 ohms together on the same channel...... or 2 pair of 8 ohms, makes it 4 ohms, ect ect.....
now once you have the number of speakers carefully thought out, you are ready to choose your AMP....I without any question tell you to stay 5 watts under the RMS power rating for your benefit, i dont want you running out and spending $200 for a set of speakers every 2 weeks........although most good companys will tell you they are safe at that level, i recomend all my peeps to stay right at or 5 watts under, for your pocketbook!!!
that should pretty much sum up the speakers...
now for amps:
1) Carefull consideration should be used to determine the right amp for the application....
things to think about: money, safety( where you gonna put it, and will it be steel free), power at 12.5 volts (unless you want a capacitor for 14 volts), brand ( some are better than others, but no one knows who the best is, its all opinions), just to name a few
once you have gotten the number and brand of speakers you plan on using, you can decide weather to go with a 2 channel, or a 4 channel, if you are planning on using coaxials ( meaning that the little tiny speaker "tweeter" is mounted on the big speaker) then I recomend a good 100 watt x 2 amp it is 2 channels, and you can turn the gain to 3/4 of the way up and be safe with it, or perhaps a 75 by 2 and play around and feel safe ( again depends on the power handling characteristics of the speakers) or using seperates ( meaning there are 2 seperate speakers for the set up with a passive crossover to seperate the frequencies) which in that case i recomend the same as above for the amp......now that is if you are only gonna run 1 pair of speakers on your tower off the amp, and nothing else
or
if you plan on running the tower speakers AND the inside speakers, you can decide to go with a 4 channel amp....
as you can read there is alot of thought that should be put in place when deciding these factors for the "proper" set of speakers
you dont want to spend $1000.00 for a system that sounds like stuff cause it isnt planned properly...

| I have the Deafcon III's. The sound very good and I was able to pick them up for around $800 shipped. I'm pushing them with a Kicker kx600.4 amp. They are wired up at 2 ohms and receiving about 75W per speaker. Sounds very nice.

| I have both the bullet 261 and the bullet db's they sound great. There a little more money, but I think they look much better. The 261's are Polk Momo 6750 and 675 speakers. Jaime @ Bullet speakers is a great guy tell him you saw his speakers on wb.com and he might give you a discount worth asking atleast.

Hey guys, thanks for the help.....one more question if you don't mind. I just bought the defcon 3's. So now my question is what amp?? I'm buying the amp just for the defcons. What is the most ideal way to go. 2chanel or 4 and how many watts.
thanks again.

| Is that enough juice. I think those speakers are rated at 150rms per speaker, which means 300 per channel if wired at 2 ohms right....Here we go again.

| So that would be something like a kicker sx600.2 or a kicker kx 550.2 wired at 2 ohms, right.
