| I'am soon goin to buy a boat. I will be spending 20000-23000. Whats to best boat I can get for that kind of money. I want a real wakeboard boat not the kind with a tower and ballast but a ski hull. I want something new looking and that gives a good wake

The newest Nautique Super Sport, MC Prostar 205 or Sport Nautique that you can find, will be the BEST for this budget. For that amount of money, you'll be able to get a very very awesome boat. Congrats!

Hey Eric, in reply to your question, I dont know where you live but even that type of boat that you get is still going to be a ski related hull, not streering twards any man. if your thinking of spending that much you can get a new one for not much more and the financing terms are allot better on new than used...

huh?
Sorry dude - just dont understand your post in a way that could inspire any kind of response other than "huh". I re-read it 4 times and still - got nuthin. Wish I had more for ya!
I stick to my original answer. He named his budget. He didnt mention financing. Even if he had I'd still say the same thing... Mastercraft 205's, Super Sports and Sport Nautiques - even a big old Supra would be great.
And again, as a major fan of smart, non-bling budget minded wakeboarding boats, I think 20k is a SOLID-A$$ budget with which to work. A majorly radical boat can be purchased for this amount. Majorly. Radical. And dope.

This is from searching for 3 min. This guys going to have one awesome boat WITHIN his budget. That is super important. BUDGET.

| NTD, I don't really know what your talking about ski related hulls but the SuperSport hull is Identical to the super airs hull and from around 98 the MC 205 hulls are identical to the former x star/x2 hull.

NTD, they're all ski related hulls.
Chines, steps, and other, arguably gimmicky features and extrusions of a hull do not substitute weight. Ask any newer Nautique, Tige or Malibu owner who wants a serious, serious wake.
Boats really have been designed over the last 15 years to push the hull out of the water, not make it sit down further in it - and sitting down further in it is the only thing that will produce a wakeoarding-perfect wake. Show me what you call a 100% wakeboarding hull and I will show you its heritage as a tournament slalom inboard hull.
Even a Super Air gets its ACTUAL roots from the Ski Nautique 2001 hull (which went from being, in this order, the famous 2001 hull, then further extruded height-wise for the barefoot and excel model, and extruded length wise for the Sport model - after settling somewhere in the middle as the modern Super Sport/Sport hull). Sameway so it goes for mastercraft. But anyway....
I dont mean to be so adamant about it, but I just think it is so impressive, smart and conscientious to stick to a good modest budget and thats what this person is trying to do. Nautiques and Mastercrafts last a solid 20-30 years. The fact that you can pick one up like the ones I've linked above, seriously rules.

Damn, I think you should change your name to the boat Dr. I know who I'm asking for boat info if I have any questions.

WOW WOW WOW first of all Sorry I was trying to send the message to the poster (Sorry for the confusion Eric) you are right the boats that you named are all good hulls... The boats up here in that price range are usually mid to late 90's and thus being more of a ski related hull...

| Gotcha dawg. I just still need to point out that the "ski related hull" really is almost unavoidable. Even the repackaged Super Sport from Nautuque is somewhat marketed as a crossover boat in their marketing fodder and brochures. Its all marketing dude. Thank goodness for ballast or we'd all be really sad.

Erik, nice move with "Brap!" earlier. Well played.
Feere2084, lots of folks upgrading their rides these days and lots of trade-ins that need good homes. If you're looking at something mid-90s or earlier stick with MC or CC, everybody else was just figuring things out 10 years ago, but there are tons of great newer boats (~99 and on) in that price range (malibu, moomba, tige, supra) that would be awesome.

If you do end up getting a 10 year old boat now for around $21,000 keep in mind that in 5-10 years when you look to sell it and upgrade, it will be 15-20 years old and potential buyers may have a hard time getting a bank to finance it. It's entirely possible that in 5-10 years you will only be able to get what someone can raise in cash, around $6000. I'm currently tring to sell a 1985 boat that I paid $15,000 for 4 years ago and 3 dealers have told me about not getting financing for older boats. It may be worth looking at a new/newer boat like moomba. If i'm wrong about older boat financing please let me know so I can sell my boat.

| Steve... Not sure what it's like in Texas, but in Canada all you need to do is get a survey done on the boat and then any bank pretty much will finance you (depending on credit of course). A survey here is about 300.00$ CAD (225.00$ US) and could be a good selling point for your boat.

I agree with Erik above. I have a 1997 MC Prostar. With tower, perfect pass added, and correct weight no rider could tell the difference b/w my boat and an 04 X2. Great boat and well within your price range. Try and get a Vdrive, but nothing wrong with staying in budget with a direct drive.

partyb - I have a '94 MC205 but currently with extended pylon rather than tower. Am working on that bit. Out of interest, what's your ballast system/distribution? I have two 650lb sacs and have used one rear (full) and one in the walkway (half full). Would I be better off to fill both and mount either side of the engine? What's your experience?

I have seen some late 90's model Malibu Sunsetters for that price with tower and ballast and wedge and all that. I rode behind a 99 Sunsetter once last summer and i was impressed. Now to find $23K to spend is the next goal!
