I was not impressed with their boats or their customer service and knowledge of boats from their sales people. I have seen much much nicer boats, i.e. Mastercraft, Malibu, COrrect Craft, Tige, Supra, etc. _________________ Ride harder...

| Pretty solid rides, but make sure you get a wake specific hull. Some of the ski models, are well known for there absence of any wake (no matter how full you load up a gt22 it will never have much of a wake). If you have any questions give their HQ a call and talk to Mark Overby. He's super cool, he's even given me some pulls. |

Here is what I got from a dealer:
"Gekkos are in two groups: GT and Revo series
GT series are wood stringers and floor, fiberglass and vinylester resin, carbon fiber in critical strength areas (stinger bonding, hull deck bonding, motor mounts, hull penetrations, etc.). Since carbon fiber is lighter than glass and asorbs less resin, the result is a lighter boat. GT series typically weigh in at 2300 lbs dry with a Merc 315.
Revo series are all composite construction with the exception of the engine cover, which is wood. Again, carbon fiber is used to reduce weight in critical strength areas.
The down side of the hull is that it takes about 25% more ballast of achieve the same wake height. Gekko wakes are rampy and not steep like a SAN. For me at 250 lbs, this is welcome since I punch through SAN wakes unitil the binding.
Gekkos are built in the Fineline factories in NC and CA. This is also where Ski Supreme and Centurion boats are built. Some components are shared - ski pylons are turned in the factory, but Gekko guages, motor mounts, running hardware, wiring harness, and carpet is distinct. " |

I am a Gekko dealer. Please conact me for info. I became a dealer after being convinced the boat was the best value and performer for my needs. There was no dealer where I was, so I became one. What is a little more capital anyway?
Some on this forum have dumped on Gekko without seeing the boat, riding behind it, or having no personal experience. Gekko is in the same position as Malibu when they first started. Few knock Malibu now. Take a close look, take a ride and make your own decisions. At least you will have a good afternoon.

I rode behind the Revo 7.1 last summer - Which is basically just a longer version of the 6.7. The boats wake was pretty nice with about 1700lbs of weight in it (toward the end of the day we put the weight up to about 2300 lbs and that made the wake awesome). _________________ If you do not like your job, you don't strike....You just go in there everyday and do it really half a$$ed.....Now that's the American way - Homer Simpson. |
