Questions for 50 gallon barrel users

If you use barrels for your slider do you put them parallel with the slider
like this = where top line is pvc pipe and bottom is barrel, or do you put them perpendicular like this + so the barrel and the pvc make a T. Which way is more stable?

I used two 50 gallon barrels next to eachother, parallel with the pipe. It was super stable, and you can usually find more barrels at a car wash if you ask for them.
