Say I have a pic of a wakeboard against a wall how do I take out everything else (colors) and just get the wakeboard and have the file as just the wakeboard to add in other pics ect..... hopefully this makes sense

There's more than one way, but I'd use the magnetic lasso tool to select the wakeboard and then cut it out of the picture, then create a new pic and paste the wakeboard into it.

Sweet, that tool works great. I just started using the program today and its a little mind blowing. Then again so was premiere b4 I started using it.

If you don't want to actually start a new file just use "layers" to do what Bill said.

i love telling people to use the magic wand tool because sometimes it can be your best friend and other times your worst enemy in photoshop. i dont know why i tell pple to use it, i guess i like to see others get frustrated

if its highly contrasting against the wall the extract feature works well to its under filters.
