Where did you get your slider plans?

Got mine from a local food producer, I think they had canola oil in them. paid 5 bucks apiece.

yea thanks, i already saw and printed off those pics and thought i could probably make a pretty good guess from them, but i was just wondering if there was anything else.

also, metal or plastic barrels, and how did you seal them? i already have metal barrels for something else, but havnt tested them to see if they leak or not.

and from reading a past post, heat was used to bend the pvc. is there any other way to bend them bc i doubt i can find a infrared heat lamp.

I'm using metal drums, I sealed the small holes with a urethane sealer and for the large plugs I used a teflon thread sealer and welded t-handles to the caps. if the slider floats too high I can unscrew the caps and let some water in to sink it slightly. Also they make drum spigots for dispensing out from drums that screw into the small holes, I would have used those but I didn't find them in time.

As for the heat to bend the pipes, the heat gun worked good it just took a long time, you might try the local rental places for a heat lamp.

Paint your metal barrels and they should last ages, just make sure the seals are good, or, useing a caulking gun, run some silicon into the thread of the seal before screwing the cap in. That should hold tight.

ok, thanks this helped alot. the last question i probably have is how you actually get the pvc to stick onto the frame. i thought about maybe putting a hole in different spots on the same side of the pipe, then getting those screws with triangle tips on the ends so that when you push them through, they don't come out. I dunno what their called.

I used 5" pvc and cut blocks from 2x4s and drilled 1/2 inch holes through the blocks, pvc, and wood frame and then bolted it together with zinc plated hardware. like this:

Thats pretty good Skobi, pretty much the same as ours on Skwake, except we didn't use blocks, we used whole lengths for stability in the pipes and the length almost touches the pvc at the top of the pipe, so the pipe can only 'give' a certain ammount, ensuring it doesn't break.

we build ours like this. its not a very good drawing but we basicly just screw through the bottom of the wood into the bottom of the pvc. put one screw about every 8in. or so.

Do these sink a little when you get up on them in the beginning? (sorry for the noob-ish question)

im not sure which kind your talkin about. the ones that go into the ground dont if you hammer the posts in good and if you anchor the floating kind with a lot of weight pulling down on it it shouldn't sink anymore when you slide it.
