Cool! I hope they buy out Independent. (Just as they did with Hurley, and make all their money off of apparel.) Rolling Eyes

Nike should stay where they belong. Making shoes out of sweatshops for basketball and track athletes.

I cant imagine these shoes actually being able to handle skating with out falling apart in 10 seconds... every Nike product I have ever owned has been a POS and fallen apart especially their shoes.

Any who, I would be very surprised to see them make very much money off of their "jump" into the skate industry, because the actual skaters will support the actual skate shoe companies... Nike is just trying to get involved in skateboarding to make a quick buck off of the THPS kids. Then again they might make assloads of bank off of the posers.

I refuse to buy Nike shoes - they may skate well but they look like stuff and I will not support them - at least in their skate endeavors.

i agree, nike should stay in the jock category of sports. though they have some sick riders who rip for them (reese forbes, chet childress, and they just got Paul Rodriguez, what a joke!) oh well those guys probably have about 14 million dollar shoe contracts now.

its wierd, but, too many people judge a company by its cover. What if wilson came out with really good shiz for wakeboarding? most likely people would start buyin.

Nike has been in the shoe industry longer then anyone. trust me, they know what theyre making.

Oh yes, why should people hate Nike I mean their hands are so clean... Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

Get real, I will continue to choose and support companies that support the sports not exploit them for a quick buck.

Also I disagree they just "got into" the skate industry my friend. that’s like saying "Bayliners have been making boats for decades, they know what their doing especially when it comes to wakeboarding boats" Skate shoe companies have been making shoes specifically for skateboarding for years too un like Nike, who’s shoes might I add aren’t even durable (every pair I've ever owned have fallen apart)

As far as not liking Nike being like Hyperlite, not exactly, at least Hyperlite sponsors the PWT and MANY MANY riders. See Nike sponsoring any skating events? Neither have I.

Acctually I have had a few pairs of Nike's they were 80$ shoes that started falling apart in a matter of months, a friend of mine also baught some nike "hiking" (rugged agressive tread) and they fell apart the first time he hiked in 'em. So he took them back and got another pair, they too fell apart. So yes acctually I have owned a pair or two of nikes and dont intend on buying another pair...

Yea, sorry about the double post. What I mean is that Nike probably doesn't really care about skateboarding, they're just trying to expand the company. Meanwhile there are all these small companies staying true to the sport but not being able to grow.

If you guys think skating in Nikes is cool, then I'm guessing u think all those "skateboarding" shirts (the ones at JC Pennies) and the "skate" shoes at Payless are cool too. I agree that it would be nice to support the smaller skate companies, but it's not like there's much you can do about it because a lot of people like the shoes that the bigger companies make. IMO all skate shoes are way over priced tho.

I wear DC's cuz they're decently priced, durable, and IMO they look good. I liked my globes too, but all of their shoes are too expensive for my liking.

Oh, and I don't really know why, but I hate the look most of Vans these days. I have some friends I want do just deck cuz they have vans and they don't skate.

Numbfoot you are just dumb, you are ripping on Nike but supporting DC? Hahaha you can buy DC's at discount stores, same thing as nike running shoes. At least with Nike you can't buy Nike skateboarding shoes at your local discount store or major sports store. Nike only sells their shoes to actual skateboard stores. Get a clue dumbfoot.

Yeah, DC isn't exactly a small company, nor are Globe or Etnies just to name a few. If you want to support those smaller companies why don't you do it? And Globe are hardly over priced, I payed $100 for my current ones.
And who cares if your freinds have skate shoes and don't skate? Its not like you've never bought a surf shirt or something like that. Your friends are supporting the industry, the same thing your talking about doing.

As long as Nike doesn't make wakeskate shoes I'm fine with it. People will buy what they want, the only thing that bugs me with Nike is thier sweatshops. personally I will but whatever works and is cheap. My last shoes I only paid $40 Laughing

where to start, head hurts from the ignorance spewed on this thread:roll:

first off, Nike has been trying to break the skate market for about 10 years now, and has failed.
DC shoes, Although big and mainstream, has atleast stayed true to their roots, Which is SKATEBOARDING.
Globe/Dwindle is now pressing boards in china, profit margins are more important then quality.
And yes all shoes are made overseas, BUT we can atleast still support companies who choose to press decks in the U.S.A, with canadian wood Twisted Evil Laughing

Tee hehe... dumbfoot, that's a good one. Rolling Eyes Like RUSSIAN said, DC has stuck to skateboarding. Who cares where you can buy DC's? They're still sick shoes. The only places I'VE seen DC shoes is at skate shops, but I'm SOOOOOO SOOOOORRRRRRRRRY if I made a mistake and they sell them at major sporting goods stores.

Fredrick Eisenhauer, I don't mean to attack your oppinion or anything, but I don't really think 100 dollars is cheap for shoes. Oh and I see your point about my friends who don't skate but wear the shoes. It's there whole attitude about it though. They act like they skate and they've even told people that they do and that they're really good. I should have said that before.

I guess I've pissed off a lot of people here by STATING MY OPPINION. Get a clue Habersh*tforbrains, this site is about voicing your oppinion. (sp?)
