We are gonna buy an '03 X-7 when we sell our boat and I have a few questions...
1. How is everyone setting up their weight?
2. How much weight does the rear ballast bag hold?
3. Is there anyone putting a sac in the back ski locker? _________________ Ride harder...

Why an x7, I was going to buy an x7 but my 76 nautique had a much better wake than that x7. I got the chance to demo the x7, we loaded it with 2 500lb fat sacs and a bunch of waterbed tubes and ended up being very disappointed with the wake. the boat itself was very nice, drove and handled excellent. So i bought an x-2 and i'm totally happy _________________ yes, i work for a dealer so everything i say doesnt count |

On our lake, you can only have a boat under 20 ft. and we foubnd an awesome deal on this boat. Are only other option is a 20V but there isn't many used ones out there for sale and they lose their value too fast. _________________ Ride harder...

| We have a friend with an X-7 and I LOVE that boat. It's very versatile and the wake was dang good. I don't know how he weighted it, but I was impressed with the boat. |

| Have you seen the Supra Launch LTS. I would take a look at it before buying an X-7. Just something to compare with. It is a 19' 11.5" boat. |

Since size is an issue, then x-7 is an excellent choice. It is a great all around family boat. good luck _________________ yes, i work for a dealer so everything i say doesnt count |

This is the boat we are getting when we sell our boat and we have done our homework and what not.... although I'd rather have a 20V, but I don't pay the bills so I'm not complaining.
I just have seen some people on here with X-7's and was wondering how they are weighting it and if you can put weight in the back locker. _________________ Ride harder...

I have a 197... basically the X-7 minus the ballast. We were told not to put weight in the back ski locker... that was the first place that came to mind for me to stash some weight. Right now we're just weighting it with sacs on either side of the engine compartment... it's kind of a pain, but it does the trick.
the 197 / X-7 is an awesome all round family boat... and if you're a cross over and like skiing too, the slalom wake at speed is barely there. |

matticus, Did they tell you that because of the gas tank being right under it? I wonder if there is a way to reinforce it. We don't ski, so the crossover isn't much of a factor at all. _________________ Ride harder...

anti-shoobies, yeah, they said that it could put pressure on the gas tank and whatever else is located right there. It also gets in the way of the shower taps that are located there. I'm still convinced there is a way to do it... although the ski locker isn't huge, I'm guessing you could get 200lbs in there.
However, don't take my advice as gospel... we've only had the boat for half a season, so I haven't had a lot of time to experiment.
I really want to try wake surfing.. so I've been trying to find out how to properly weight the boat for that |
