Monday was a f-ed up day for me! It started out great, got the day off from work (rare) and decided to go to the mountain to ride. On the way up, I get pulled over for having a cracked windshield. Then I couldn't find my proof of insurance. He writes me a $600 ticket that I will now have to take to court costing me more money. We finally get to the mountain and have a decent 6 hours of riding. No injuries. On the way home, i get a phone call from my girlfriend who I live with. She wanted to know what i did with the new cordless phone we just bought. Then she says that the whole phone, charger and everything, is gone. I asked her if she had looked around to see if anything else was missing. After a few minutes she called me back with a list of the missing items from our home. $1500 computer, playstation 2, 30 games, 30 dvd's, cordless phone, new sony digital video camera, about $30 in change, and I keep finding more things missing everyday.
While I was up riding and my girlfriend was at work, some friggin low life mo-fo opens my window with a screwdriver and enters our home. He then proceeds to help himself to whatever he wants. Leaving about 8 wakeboards and four snowboards. Thanks for leaving my most valued possesions anyway. haha.
I learned an expensive lesson having chosen not to keep my renters insurance about six months earlier. The lesson, Protect your crap!!!! Duh! I know that i had become used to feeling secure at home due to the fact that it is hard to find and in a very nice area. I just installed a top of the line video security system and will put bars on my windows this weekend. I would suggest that everyone learns from my mistake and make sure your home is secure.
OH YEAH, DIE THEIVES DIE. BETTER NOT LET ME CATCH YOU OR YOU WILL BE DEEP SEA DIVING IN SAMMAMISH WITH CONCRETE BOOTS!
$1000 REWARD FOR ANY INFO LEADING TO AN ARREST AND CONVICTION.

Sorry to hear about that, Mike.

1. If you have proof of insurance and show the judge, the amount on the ticket will be greatly decreased.

2. See if your landlord has homeowner's insurance. You can pretty much claim anything on a homeowner's.

otiswunguy, about your ticket....I don't know where you live, but my windshield cracked about a 6 weeks ago. I'm in no hurry to fix it though b/c there is still a bunch of sand and gravel on the streets and therefore kinda pointless to fix it at this point (too high of a risk of getting another serious chip or crack). If that's the case for you, you can make that point to the judge.

.....otherwise....sorry to hear about that man....I hate thieves. Evil or Very Mad

Sorry to hear about your seriously bad day. There is nothing worse then some punk stealing s@%t from you or anyone else. I would love to come home and catch one of these F in pricks in my house. The concrete boots about sums it up.
As for your ticket, I got one of the same a little while ago, cause my girlfriend was cleaning the car out and forgot to put the slip back in. All I had to do was go to the police station show proof of insurance and the ticket was erased.

Definitely good advice. Stolen stuff turns up on ebay all the time. Unfortunately, you'll need the serial numbers to be able to prove that it's your stuff, should you discover it.

otiswunguy, dude that really sucks, i feel for ya, same thing happened to us a few years ago, but the bastards just broke the window beside our front door. we lost about $10000 worth of stuff, cd's, playstation/games, jewellery, cash, perfumes/colognes, they took heaps. but we did have home and contents insurance so we got most of it back, except the jewellery.

did you get anything on your video security system??

that sucks big time, the video surveillence is good but the bars on the windows could be really bad for you if there is a fire and you have to go out a window Confused

We almost got robbed about a half year ago while we were on vacation in Florida. The idiots somehow were caught by the police as they were breaking into our house. The worst part about it for me was that I was kind of a friend with one of them.

I'd see that as a good thing. I wouldn't want to hang out with someone that does things like that. Kinda weeds out who good people/friends are.

I'll add another detail. I was a couple classes with this kid at the time it occured. It was kind of uncomfortable to be around him...especially the time he tried to apologize to me.

i live in texas and i got pulled over and got a ticket for "failure to maintain financial responsibility" which is not having insurance. I had forgotten to put my new insurance in my car so i went down to the courthouse to pay the ticket an it was dismissed once i showed proof of insurance and paid 15 dollars. good luck to you and i hope your all your things are found!!

Always take pics of your belongings and each room of your house. Include guns, jewlery etc. This way you have proof of what you truly had in your home. Put pics in a fir proof safe if possible. Take pics of boats, cars etc.

Sorry tyo hear what has happened.
