What rpms do you guys reach to get your boats out on plane? I have a 94 prostar 205, with a 350chevy, 275hp, and i normally stay around 3,000 rpms while getting off plane, and 2700 - 2900 while at riding speeds. I run a fatseat in the back, and a 600 3/4 full with 4 - 6 people. What are yalls rpm... thanks.

Wait..... The 2003 malibu owners manual says that hours are only accumulated if the engine is running at or abouve 3000 rpm. So does that mean that most of your wakeboarding hours aren't being counted?

that would be easy to check, idle for 15mins, and see if the counter moves, i would hope they count hours under 3000rpm because if not, lots of people might have bu's with over 1000hrs and only think they have like 200, or people might not know when they need to change their oil and stuff...
I was worried about pushing my boat a little to hard, at 3,000 rpms, but i guess taking my rodeo past 5,000rpms and it still runs Smile
Well see...

All those barefooters routinely run their boats at or near the redline up around 4200-4500 rpm, so running at 3000 for wakeboarding certainly isn't going to hurt anything.

BTW, I've been running between 2700 and 3000 rpms on my boat for the last 400 hours with no bad results, and I'm sure the owner before me did the same thing.. I'm up around 800 hours now on a 99 and it's running perfectly.

It's all in how you take care of it... make sure you change the oil after every 40 to 45 hours and you'll be good for a REAL long time.

My hour meter runs when the key is in the on position. The boat engine doesn't have to be running. I found this out when working on my boat a few months ago, left the key on to test some stuff while working and kept hearing a clicking sound. The sound was the hour meter changing (DOH!).

Styk33,
That will suck for resale. You're putting hours on your boat when you just kick back and listen to tunes, have lunch or whatever???? Crying or Very sad
