| Well we finally got out on the water yesterday. The temperature at the park at 3:30 when we got on the water was about 13 (54). As we drove out of the park (Golden Ears) to the lake (Allouette) we were in total bliss as we looked at the water and it was pure glass. This is not normal in the afternoon at the lake in the summer. When I had to get out of the boat to help hold the boat to get the dogs in, I realized that I might be a little crazy. Despite the fact that I was wearing a drysuit, the water was that foot numbing pain that you swear you must be completely obsessed to be out on the water. Once I had the bindings and gloves on though it was not so bad. And the minute I was up on the water that complete unbelievable feeling was back. You know the one. That awesome feeling you only get when you are boarding. I discovered something very quickly. WHATEVER YOU DO -- DO NOT WIPE OUT!!!! Once your head goes under the water it is an instant blistering headache! You definitely want to be back on top of the water ASAP!!!!! But oh the butter!!!!! It's started and what a great start to the season. I will try to post some video, if I can figure out how. You can see the snow on the nearby mountains. Has anyone else got out yet where you live? What is it like there? I would sure like it if the wet suit riding season was a little longer here. Oh well, it is worth it to go when it is cold and you have the whole lake to yourself. The fisherman were not all that happy to see us!!!!! |

Hey Crash,
Well, you've got bigger....never mind, it'll still be several weeks for us - we only have shorty wetsuits at the moment, the only good news is we're heading for the Carribean for two weeks tomorrow....
Have a great season!

I understand the pain of the cold water, last new years day I got dared to wakeboard in just a swimsuit, unforunatly I got pulled up to the dock short after my run and got dunked. Air temp was 32 water was a brisk 38. The crazy thing is I did it again this year...sometimes you just dont learn. _________________ If it didn't hurt it wasn't worth tryin |

WesGardner: Hope you get a chance to wakeboard in the Carribean. We managed to find a place in the Dominican Republic to wakeboard on the the river. It was unreal - so warm. It was really funny, the locals said the water was "fresh" -- the water there was about as warm as it ever gets here!!!!!
WetChick - Oh my god!!!!! I cannot even imagine!!! Talk about BRRRRRR! I hope you had a lot of fortification prior to getting in the water. There is a reason Russian's drink Vodka-it keeps the blood warm. Just one or two shots to keep you warm but not affect your boarding. Sounds way to cold form me. |

Crash- i'll keep the vodka in mind for next year so the hypothermia doesn't set in as quick. _________________ If it didn't hurt it wasn't worth tryin |

| Crash, Glad you had fun! We are out year round down here, but we've had a few chilly days. Can't even imagine living in a place so cold! |
