|
|
I have a couple of friends out west who do some off water training with a Russian gymnast. They go to a gymnastics facility and use a trampoline with a harness/pulley system on it, wear a makeshift board, and have this pro teach them spins and flips.
I looked into something similar here in town, and found a pretty big gymnastics training facility where there is a coach who has trained with some wakeboarders in the past (recreational or pro, I don't know) - it's pretty cheap, and I was considering checking out a 30 minute lesson to see what it's all about.
Has anyone ever done anything like this? Should I just forget about this and go buy my own trampoline for the back yard? |

Personally, I would just get my own trampoline. You can use it when ever you want and its not that hard to teach your self. the one thing they can teach you though is proper technique. _________________

Well, it looks like I'm going to try out a half hour private lesson on the trampoline with the gymnastics instructor I mentioned above. I'll let you all know if I think it was worthwhile. _________________ www.led-concepts.com |

I used to own my own trampoline and it helps a bit. As of last summer, I met a few other wakeboarders from around the area through wakeboarder and wakeworld. One of them just happens to be a gymnastics coach. So I get to jump for free for a couple hours every friday. I guess it depends on you tramp skill level, but if I had to pay, I think I would just buy my own. But he will be able to help a lot if you learning flips for the first time. _________________ My Gallery

tparider, I'm with the chicken. I've got a trampoline, but I just drove by a gymnastics facility today, and I remembered how good I was when I was a little kid in gymnastics. Now I'm a fat old dude, but I figure someone over there can make me feel like a duck on water.....or is it "a pig in the air" I donno, but soon to find out!! _________________ I'm real nice 'till you piss me off.....so don't piss me off. |

if you end up going Bizzerker - post your experience and what you think.
"Avi" posted in the other trampoline thread that's up right now that he's going to do it too, so maybe he'll comment on what he thinks as well... _________________ www.led-concepts.com |

I can already tell you it's going to be awesome! I'll be spending time with someone in a small group or 1 on 1 that has a very intimate knowledge of doing things that would make most normal people hurl. I really don't have the luxury to go to camps and lessons for boarding, so I know this is going to be the best thing as far as aerial awareness and coordination. _________________ I'm real nice 'till you piss me off.....so don't piss me off. |

BurkeViper, I get the feeling you've never been to Oklahoma. I really don't even think meteorologists are very necessary, even for Tornados. They could just put the radar up on the TV with some nice music instead of those clowns. Everyone knows what to look for anyway, and everyone knows the forecast is a blind guess.
We actually had a fairly mild winter until two months ago. Now...it's 65 at 11 o'clock at night! But guess what...it's gonna be in the stinking thirties and twenties by the weekend I'm almost willing to bet that until this summer when it's scaulding hot, every time we try to go out, the weather's just gonna be s#!^ and it'll be nice the days we absolutely can't go
Oh man, I've got to board soon, or I'm gonna pop! Just like this... http://photos.wakeboarder.com/showphoto.php?photo=3303&password=&sort=7&thecat=500 _________________ I'm real nice 'till you piss me off.....so don't piss me off. |

LOL !!!! You're cracking me up kswiss. I just looked at all five of homewardbound's posts, and they're all plugs. You know what homewardbound, you aught to be paying wb.com for your advertisements. Hell, I thought about trying to sell my plans for wakeboard racks, but I figured it'd be a lot cooler, and in the spirit of the website, to provide them for free. If you want to sell stuff, put it in classifieds. If you wanna give honest advice, post up on all the regular forums. It's pretty sad (and obvious) when all five of your posts have to do with you business. Quit f-ing it up for everyone that's asking for advice, not another hole in the wallet. _________________ I'm real nice 'till you piss me off.....so don't piss me off. |

i dont know how people can be so ignorant to plug the things in these forums that theyre selling and expect people to actually consider the things they are trying to sell becuz they get no respect. anyways... yeah i think it would be cool to go to a pro tramp guy for a day. i have a trampoline and practice everyday and that works for me but i guess to each his own. What do you got to lose goin to this guy for a day. let us know how it goes _________________ ride to live, live to ride
