It's not easy to land on your head. You are probably throwing you head to one side a bit so you can see our landing earlier, maybe a security thing, thats what I used to do as well. just think about throwing your head straight back

You want to be at the peak of your jump before you throw your head back....
Bounce a few times to get a feel for when that is and then when you bounce again wait as long as you can before you huck your head back...

I find reaching like I was doing a grab helps me wait for the height you need for a smooth flip.

If you try to flip as you are going up, the tramp will throw you off if you are not careful.

It also helps to have someone spot you because it will give you alot more confidence. If you have someone spot you correctly there is now way that you will land on your head. throwing your arms straight up and setting will help u stay centered on the trampoline.

omg dave I had the same problem. I went to this gym for tumbling and I was so scared, but first we jumped in a foam block pit, then moved on to an extra bouncy tramp, he tied a harness on me and I did a couple, then he said he wasnt going to do anything just slide a mat under me so I tried and it was successful. Then we moved to the regular tramp and I tried it was successful. I was always scared but once you have air awarness you dont even have to know where your going basically. Just jump get in the air, then throw your body and legs over your head (dont throw your head to get the rotation) make a tuck shape and get around. It might take a couple times to land on your feet but its easy once you do it. Hope I helped.

The key point already made that I agree with, is to lead with your head. But some people have to conciously think: First you will see sky, then the upside down world around you, then the tramp, then the world right side up again.

I've seen many people look down at the tramp right after seeing the sky and that stops their rotation. Good Luck! And make sure you post when you stick it, so we can stop replying Wink

I find if you grab your knees or just under your knees and pull them into your chest it will speed up the rotation . I used to just throw my head back and curve my back but then I got help at a gym. Now I can do them standing on floor. If you go to just an open gym the people there are usually really helpful and you can learn it very fast. Once you get it it doesn't feel much different then a normal jump unless you do it layout.

Push your chest out as you throw your head back, that should keep you from going backwards.

And don't throw it straight off the jump, wait a little.

I couldn't do them either, i would get scared and go sideways. Then i just went balls out and tried it and i stuck it first time. It will also help to do it off of a raised up dock, or off the tube part of a floating trampoline. I can jump and do them and over-rotate them onto my back off of our friend's floating trampoline that's probably3 or 4 ft off the water.
Just remember to look straight back and not move your head to the side(i used to do that cuz i thought i would land on my head.)

and most important, make sure u get high eanough.

I don't want my post count to move Puppy Eyes

Just learn it on a diving board first and then onto a trampoline.

Idea - if your point is to learn the rotation for wakeboarding, and you don't have a board on your feet, find someone with a pool. Take your handle and tie it on to something off to the side of the diving board. Hold the handle tight to your center as you cartwheel off into the water. The downside is you're probably not going to do backwards rotation, but in the end, even the forward cartwheel felt a lot more like the rotation in wakeboarding than the tramp (spin like you do in wakeboard backroll but moving in the other direction). It seemed much less dangerous than jumping on a tramp with a board and a rope, and you learn what works as far as line tension, etc. Works for 360s too.

This seems like a great way to practice on a trampoline: Bounce Board - http://www.funspot.com/trampoline_bounce_board.html

homewardbound, yeah, I disagree. You can't position your feet like you want to on the board, thus making it uncomfortable and therefore possible to cause more injuries simply do to having to adjust how you might do some tricks. Plus, that's not worth 100 bucks....try selling it for 20 and see what kind of response you get.

homewardbound, cost too much coin......as mentioned above....

I would use a ska8 deck and duck tape my (old) shoes in my stance before I would buy something like that.

sorry, that's just my opinion.

Eander, If you go up first then lead with the head you will land right where you took off from. I bounce right in the center with two hands on the handle like I'm cutting in on my HS edge, on my second bounce I square up with one hand on the handle just like you would off the wake. Once square wait to go up before you lead with the head and you will land right where you took off. if you jump even slightly to the edge of the tramp it will shoot you across as you mention even if you lead with the head that's just the physics of the tramp.

I only do a few tricks on the tramp where I take off from either edge of the tramp, my crow mobe blind landing. and most of the off axis stuff I do. I find for the TS off 5 it works best for me to jump from the edge I'm facing so I bounce slightly back to the center of the tramp. This too me feels the most like the kick the wake gives and really shoots my hips out and up behind me.

I LOVE TRAMP TRAINING!
