Sounds like you're kicking back too hard with your front foot. Where do you position your feet when you do it? Try to do more of an ollie motion before you flick your heel to initiate the flip - so up and then to the side. Use your rear foot to scoop the board back (turn your foot so the big ball and big toe of your rear foot are basically all that's on the tail - almost like a pressure flip - but on the back edge of the board, not the front).
That might be a hard to understand - feel free to PM with any particular questions. And good luck with it! |

Try inward heelflips. You need a fs shuvit to do them but they are learnt easy. ANd the rotation of an inward heel flip makes them easier anyway, also they are easier fakie.
Roll along with your front foot just over half way up the board and hanging way over the edge. Then start the fs shuvit by kicking out from you with your back foot and kicking off the nose of the board. ALso, jump back a little because the board doen't tend to stay under you as much watch for it and stomp it.
But you can probably already do them so I probably just wasted my time, well anyway good luck. _________________

Yep - that's right. An inward heel is when the board rotates the same as a varial kick but with a heel instead. In other words a varial heel is a heelflip with a FS shuvit. |

Varial Heel flip is a Heelflip+BS shuvit isn't it? And an inward is a Heel flip+FS shuvit? fs being a sort of 'inward' motion. _________________

vip20882000 - think of a BS 180 - where do you spin? Face leading the rotation. FS spins are lead by the back. So FS shuv is kicking the board behind you, while BS shuv is kicking it forward. |

Well I think of it as if your toe side edge opens upto the direction your facing first you'll be going fs. _________________

Fredrick Eisenhauer, a varial heelflip is a heelflip with a fs shuvit. and an inward heelflip is a heelflip with a bs shuvit. it's inward because the board is flipping into the spin. |
