Looking at photographs of various aftermarket tower installations on tournament ski boats, it appears the tower line attachment point is invariably behind the position of the ski pylon. This can clearly be seen on the Maristar below.
I appreciate precise tower positioning is a function of availability of suitable attachment points, how/where you want it to stow when collapsed and a whole bunch of other issues.
But in an ideal world, would it make sense to align the take off points in the vertical plane or is this irrelevant?
Given that the tower is attached to the deck in front of the pylon, how does this affect the forces involved and hence boat handling, if at all?
Any physicists/structural engineers able to comment????
