| Damn, I just filled the 4-Runner up and it cost me an additional $6 bucks due to the rise in gas prices. It didn't take long to think about what we'll be paying at the dock if this situation with Iraq does'nt come to an end quickly. You know, the first bomb has yet to be dropped and the pump prices are already going up. I know that were lucky to be paying what we do, but are we getting the hose job?

Rogan it has more to do with the conflicts in Venezuela right now than Iraq. Iraq supplies less that 8% of American oil.

Nor*Cal,
Maybe I need to go back to school, but Iraq holds the 2nd largest oil reserves in the world after Saudi Arabia. In addition, more than 40% of Iraq's oil production is exported to the U.S. through intermediaries. That's only 1.7 million barrels a day!

Rogan- After 1986 Venezuela began to refine over 50% of all oil imported to the USA. Regardless of where it is coming from an oil strike in Venezuela is going to seriously affect American oil prices.

| There is not a war about ready to break out in Venezuela there is a war about ready to break in Iraq. That is what is effecting the gas prices. Watch the news.

| I live in Canada, and we are noticing the shift as well. RIght now we are paying 83 cents a litre. THere are about 4 litres in a gallon, so we're paying through the nose too. I know it's Canadian money, but 5 bucks is 5 bucks.

Thats actually 3.14 canadian a gallon and 2.12 U.S a gallon.
There are .264 liters in a gallon and the exchange rate is about 1.48.

Spyplane the television news is biased and rarely reports the entire truth. Venezuela has had an oil strike for almost 3 monthes now and this has had a significant impact on oil prices. If you take the crap you hear on TV as the whole truth you are truly missing a good portion of what is actually happening. Also remember that historically WAR is good for the American economy.

From what i've read, there is, and has been an oil embargo on Iraqi oil, the only oil that we let them export, is supposed to pay for food. Wether or not that is actually the case, is anyone's guess. Gas prices are going up because demand is going up(summer's comin) and also because of the instability around the world. (North Korea, Iraq, Venezuela, etc.) In central and southern cali, our gas prices are already at $1.8ish for regular. At the docks this summer, we can probably expect to pay well over 2 bucks per gallon. (Cheaper to buy gas cans and fill up in town IMHO).
