|
|
| i bought a new masterline 70' microfusion rope that is supposed to float in tha water. This F* rope set me back $100 and broke in 3 diffrent places b/c you couldnt make the rope any shorter for my wake because all wakes are different. Is there any sort of knot that works especially well or can you like tie it and melt it together? If you see this braided royal blue and black skinny threads-- DO NOT BUY IT! Anything would help> |

Yeah, a normal spectra rope is easy to fix, you can splice them back together. With the fusion coated stuff its a little more tricky but it can still be done. Go to your local boat dealer and ask them for some heat shrinkable cable wrap. This is the same kind of stuff they use on the Accurate jacket lines. I dont know what the name of the knot is that you can use, but inspect the jacket line and do the same thing, the heat shrink wrap will cover the two ends. Next time buy a straight up spectra rope, once you know how to splice you can fix anything, I can now tie my own handles, which I have done and even sold a couple. _________________ www.midwestmastercraft.com

A square knot works best for joining two peices of rope.

Make your connection just like the mfgr does. Get some heat shrink from the auto parts store. Slip 4-5 inches of heat shrink on to each end of the broken rope. Tie each end into a loop. A figure 8 knot would work well. Use the heat shrink to secure the loose end @ the knots. Put it together just like the take-off sections that came with the rope.
Or, call/email the manufacturer & warrantee the thing. Unless you ran over it of course, I couldn't really tell what happened to it from your orriginal post.
