I have a 01' blindside with a fin at each end. This board has a very flat bottom and is very slippery unless on edge, It likes to go sideways if its flat. So I want to drill new holes in it and make it into a 4-fin board for the newbies on my boat. Is this possible? have you done this and will it work, or will i delaminate the finish on the board? thanks..Jet

Go for it. The worst thing you'll have to do is buy a new board with the fin setup you want in the first place. However, I would think that getting a larger fin for your buds would be easier than trying to fit new fins.

a friend of mine drilled holes in his parks so he could make a center fin for it. he put glue in the holes where the fins used to be...so to answer your question yes it will work.

Good info! Did your friend like the parks with a center fin? Did he use it alone, or along with the rail fins?

yeah he loves it. others have tried it and liked it as well. i havent had a chance to ride it, but i would like to. he only uses only the center fin and he put glue where the other holes used to be.

I made an old Lavelle into a 4 fin board. It kind of messed up how it rode. It would cut really hard but would go right through the wake like a slalom ski. I would try a bigger fin first then think about modifying it.

Just remember that the board was designed for one fin, However the DV8 design is seriously Blindside's first shape, it came about in like '97 or '96. They had never thought of multiple fins at that time. I know that shape as I used to sell Blindside at a s tore I worked at, it's a good beginner board. Just don't push on the drill bit too hard, let it work so you don't splinter the glass.
