Why not try a new non-wood material if you have accsess mabey honeycomb aluminum.

Or if you intend to make it from wood instead of plywood why not try a a core mad eup of longitudinal pine strips, witha fibre glass braid, the same way high-end snow skis are made.

| you can cut a block of wood into two congtuent triangles and then glue it to the board and sand it and it works well.

I made this board with 3 layers of 4mm marine plywood, and after taking it out of the jig added a 7mm ply strip on each side and sanded to blend them in, was looking at mutiny boards when I made it so thats where I got the idea from - and why they look like a cross between two of the mutiny board concave edges.
I also added 4mm sections to the four corners and blended them in to make channels like the byerly 04
I used EVA foam for the top -works real well but need to ensure that the edges of the foam are back from the edge of the board or really well glued (or both) as first decent crash I had the front of the foam pulled up on one corner and put a rip ~1 inch long down the middle of the foam on the nose (fixed it now) not quite as grippy as tape (obviously)

| thats pretty awsome my friends and i are going to try to make a wake skate out of fiberglass but i think your idea might work better. whatever i guess wel have to try both ways. i also have no idea how to make it concave except you would have to build a jig with a concave curve to it

If you want to make it concave without adding extra wood panels or making a complicated jig, glue together layers of foam (like what I did with wood above) then sand it with an orbital sander, works pretty good, glue onto ur board and then put the grip surface over the top (glue a single sheet of eva or put grip tape on). Just remember to glue the edges firmly and preferably sand a slope in the foam around the edges so that water doesnt rip it up.
