Ok a kid from church wants a new board/bindings for his birthday and he came to me. Is it possible to get a good setup for a 12 yr. old for 200-300 bucks? He's not real big, so I was thinking like a mini squirt or similar.

Thoughts, comments would be greatly appreciated.

Also, would a 132cm board be too big for a 12 yr old?

Randy,

Whats up man. I can hook you up with aboard for that age. I've got a couple of CWB and Liquid Force combos I can suggest. Call us at the shop this week (501-467-3555) or come in the shop sometime or hit us up at boat show next weekend. Rob Struharik will be there.

I think I have what you need. Hydroslide makes a good kid board. $150 plus shipping (usually $15-25, depending upon where you live). The board includes bindings. It is a first quality board with decent bindings for kids. E-mail me for a photo. It is sized for up to 125 lbs or so. Above that, a 132 would work, depends upon the rider. For beginning riders, if I have to error, I will error on the side of a board too small than too large. It rides deeper and is more stable. Some will undoubatably disagree, but that is my personal experience teaching many people how to ride.

The board is about 123 cm long and has rounded ends. It has two fins and running surfaces.

Randy, pretty cool of you hooking up the kid with some new gear!!
There are some great boards/bindings for kids to fit your price range. Your local shop should be able to help you out and explain the differences between all the boards.
Also, online shops such as Buywake.com and Wakeside.com offer up to 10% discounts on package deals. Liquid Force and Hyperlite have some nice setups ranging from $250 - $350.
If you have any questions about the different boards and bindings, please feel free to email me.

hey guys thanks for all the input. I'll check out those sites and see what they've got.

Jon, I'll talk to you this weekend at the boat show and try to relay the info to him or I may try to bring him with me.
