|
|
| I noticed that a lot of people are using metal wheels for their trailer "rollers" for when they are driving over speedbumps, driveways, etc. Anyone ever try to use rollerblade wheels? Do you think they will be strong enough to support the weight? I am thinking that they will be quieter than the steel wheels. |

| They would be too weak. I didn't know they were loud. |

You'd be better off with a set of skateboard wheels, as wide and hard as you can find. They will take a lot more load and should prove very quiet. You won't be able to use regular bearings though, although I doubt bearings would be necessary. _________________ Terminate high thinking |

I know for a fact that rollerblade wheels will be way to weak. I used to blade alot, I mean alot. I used to blow out wheels all the time. My roomate and I had so many blown out sets of wheels that we decorated our xmas tree with them.
I doubt that skateboard wheels will be much better. BTW, if you don't drive over so much crap, or drive more carefully you shouldn't be scrapping those wheels so much that it is an issue. _________________ Check out https://www.facebook.com/darcizzleoffshore |

| Call DHM trailers in Sacramento. I took my trailer up there and had them bolt-on the wheel assembly. I chose the non-metal wheels. They work great. While there I had them service the wheel bearings, too. |

| You can also order the prop guard wheel setup from www.dorseytrailers.com . They sell the wheels a setup that you can have installed by your local welding contractor. Pretty beefy setup too. I'm considering it for my trailer as well. |

I won't go as far as saying they would be perfect for the job, but I can guarantee they would be a lot more suitable than rollerblade wheels. The load is spread over a wider area, lower sidewalls for reduced chance of folding over (no way would a skateboard wheel ever fold over), and a lot, lot harder. I've just parked my car on top of an old Powell Mini-logo wheel, I check it tomorrow and let you know how it holds out! _________________ Terminate high thinking |
