Is this the best pylon out there ? I was thinking of going with the Skylon "the pod". Im curious how difficult they are to install and how easy they are to take out in put in the boat. I live in an area where everynow and again I need to go under low bridges at high tide so I need something I can take down and put up easlily. How much extra lift will installing one these give you ? currently we just use a ski bar, but would like to get something that will help us get a little more air.

shakenbake, I had the pod on my old boat. Not too difficult to install - especially if you can access the underside of the rear of the boat easily.

It is a huge difference and will be noticed immediately. Also, skylon make racks for their regular pylons - the pod is essentially a regular pylon with lateral support...

Fair warning - be ready to drill into and through your fiberglass. It's not really as bad as it seems though.

Ive got a Skylon with a Skyrack on it. It is a heck of a lot easier to get up with a pole also.
