do the cutouts in the Byerly really make a difference? how the the wakeskate ride with the new tips? What bindings are on the Byerly? (look like this years Byerlys). Ummm I think that's it.....that the new TFD?

Doesn't look the same to me. Deeper molded fins, something molded betwen the fins, and the edge isn't squared as much?
I also notice that it has the jib base. Is that a DNA or does the BIo come that way now? I wish they would stop putting those stupid warning labels on the top!!!

I rode w/ otiswunguy this morning, and I've ridden the last 4 Byerlys. The '04 is exactly the same except for the cutouts. That's it! That's the only difference. No deeper molded fins, same thing as last year between the fins.

it's smaller size makes it easier to keep in the pocket, and easier to speed up and slow down.

Jumulian- So you're saying it's last years shape too w/cutouts? There must be some reason why they did it other than looks. Did you ride it too? I want to hear some feedback on how it rides. I could see myself banging my hands up on grabs.

i would think the cutouts would really hold tight on edge? do they make much of a difference?

maybe the cutouts are there to discourage people from attempting tindys and tailfishes.

oh ya and how did you get your hands on the byerly( and catalyst for that). i was told the final shapes were being decided sometime this week.

i took the fins off and i'm giving it another try. it holds an edge like a mo fo. rides like a big board, tons of pop with soft landings. the notches definately help it track when on edge but it does feel like it should break loose a lot easier. i don't know about long term durability with the notches because they are pretty thin. i guess we'll see. if you are into hard cuts and landing in the flats, this would probably be a good board for you. if you like the feel of the premier, then you most likely won't like this board. its all about preference and riding style. i'll try to get some more pics or maybe an avi file this morning.

He always has been pretty hardcore so maybe he's trying to introduce injury into the mundane aspects of the sport. some kid goes for his first tindy and schink, loses a couple fingers, that will teach some respect to the youngins...
