I went to a Boat Show today in Pleasanton Ca. Shuan Murray was there at the Hyperlite booth. All I can say about this guy is he is for real. He took the time to talk to me and my kids and was such a cool guy the whole time he autographed a bunch of stuff for us. My youngest son is 8 years old and while I walked around, he and Shuan hung out for over an hour just talking about wakeboarding and wakeboarding unleashed. I don't know too many pro athlete's that would take the time to too hang out with a little kid like that. It really meant a lot to me and my son. Shuan is the man!!!!!!

Another thing I've noticed about Shaun is the amount of repesct he has for other people on the lake.
The other day alot of fisherman were on the one of the calm stretches of water, and he went to the part where it wasnt as calm so he wouldn.t disturb the fisherman. Thought it was cool.

Murray is definitley genuine. I talked with him for a bit at the Irvine stop and he apologized for having to cut our conversation short because he had to go take care of something.
I think a few years ago he became friends with this younger kid who had a terminal illness and taught him how to wakeboard and they hung out together and stuff. This kind of generosity and kindness goes a long way.

Though I've never met him, his story about Randy Petru (tell me if I got his name wrong) says alot about the guy.

Its too bad other sports didn't have cool professionals like wakeboarding does. I bet you'll never hear about Randy Moss or Terrell Owens getting up close and personal with thier fans like Parks and Shaun do. Oh well its thier loss if they don't want to keep it real with the people that support them.

Shaun is definatly cool! I met him at the Vans Triple Crown in Indianapolis in August. Chatted w/him briefly. Then he gave me some pointers for hitting my 1st slider. Too cool! I also met Parks, Erik, Chad, and Gerry Nunn. All very approachable guys, and more than willing to talk.

| All the Pros have such great attitudes when it comes to the fans. JD grew up on the West coast of Florida in the Anna Maria Island area. I rode with him when he was like 10 and I was 21 or 22 and he was amazing then. His dad is really cool too. I often ride in Orlando on Lake Willis which is where Harf lives. I havent had the opportunity to ride with him but I have seen him on the lake. If anybody knows about Mikes parties on the lake, Harf is usually there and a cool person to hang with. Check out Mikes web page at Mikesdbigdeck.com if you get the chance. There needs to be alot more sports with these kind of people...

| Maestro the last I heard of Randy Petru, was that he was doing well and his cancer was in remission, but that was ages ago. I wonder how he is now.

I brought my 13 year old nephew and his buddy down to Shaun's Backyard Tour stop in San Diego this summer. Shaun walked up and introduced himself to the kids and then asked them if they had played his video game. They hadn't so he took them over and played against them. It was definitely one of the highlights of their summer. The Backyard Tour is an incredible event and just another example of how much Shaun gives back to the fans. If you get a chance to meet his dad Lloyd, then you'll know where Shaun gets it - his dad is just as friendly and outgoing as Shaun.
Definitely great people!

| No doubt the pros in this sport are much more approachable/accesible in wakeboarding than in most other sports. Kind of nice aint it?!

| Randy Petru is doing great. The cancer is in remission and he out being a kid again. I've spent some time w/ him and his family when I was back in college - Awesome people. Randy and I even watched wakeboard videos while he was in the hospital getting Chemo. Shaun and him are good buddies and they talk on the phone often. I'll always respect Shaun a lot for what he has done for Randy and his family, not to mention many others. There is so much to that story and the other Pros. Like Darin giving Randy the board he one the Worlds on and many other similar stories. You hear all kinds of awesome stuff from these guys and in some ways I'm glad wakeboarding is still relatively small so the pros have access to their fans. I'm not one that gets all starstruck, but I sure can be turned off by celebrities if they have attitude.

K-dub,
Yeah Shaun was telling us about Parks but Danny Harf is not going to be there he is doing something else. Chad Sharpe is gonna take his place, so its still all good. I'll be there for sure. Tino Santori was also there last weekend he was representing Tige. Tino is also a super nice guy he gave me a few pointers... I just wanna talk one of these guys into a winter set out here on the delta.

Bret V is pretty cool. He has some photo albums posted on wakeskate.com. He replies to the posts there too. I guess the good thing about wakeboarding is that it is not super huge and the pro's aren't untouchable. I mean, try getting next to Tiger Woods, or Wayne Gretzky. They've all got handlers. Wakeboarding is as real as it gets. They are all people just like us... with maybe a few KGB's and Mobe's thrown in.
