I've been behind each of these boats with a extra 1000 pounds of weight.
The wake of the malibu was sweet, the wake of the SSV was also sweet. The price of the boats are in the $45k range, so about the same. I like the looks of the SSV and the room of the SSV. The problem is the Dealer of the SSV is an hour away. The Malibu deale ris 10min. However the Malibu dealer has 18 year olds wrenching on boats in which that drives me up a wall. I need help...If you owne a Malibu tell me why your boat is the better boat or why you whent with the Malibu. Same goes for the SSV. P.S I drove the Nat Team, love the boat 60K ooouuuucchhhhh. 60K and you cant even store a case of beer. Rolling Eyes

I like the SSV. It has the Stadium Seating which you can totally remove if you want. It is nice to do this in the winter when you do not have many people going and you do not want to step on the upholstery and you have extra coolers and drysuits, etc. It has a upgradable ballast system with the ability to put a 800 lbs sack in the nose and close to 2K total lbs.. It has the Wake Plate which prevents porposing and gives better holeshot. It comes with a MP3/CD player. It is a big boat with a permanant jump seat and I like to have people sit next to me when I drive.

I think becauseof the flexability of using or not using the wedge in a matter of moments changing the wake for more or less experienced riders is the key.The wedge is awesome and puts the mailbu over the top for me.Ive ridden alot behind both boats and i like the Malibu better.I was sold on the malibu after riding on both brand new boats in which we decided for the first ten hours or so we would only used stock weight and the mailbu was a much better wake stock with wedge then the supra SSV ..If price was the same and the Malibu dealer closer thats what id go with and i think with 'Bus being so popular right now the resale or even the selling would be easier and more..IMO Mr. Green

SSV all the way. Better looking boat and better wake. Well worth the hour drive.

Anybody have the engine up grade in the SSV? Is it worth the extra $2000-?

You can't go wrong with a VLX... My buddy has a SSV, and I think the Malibu is just a nicer boat. However, the SSV is a nice boat also.

Billm
why do you have an icon of a Launch under your name and then
say that you would prefer to have a Malibu Question

We looked at the SSV before we bought the Malibu. You will need to get the fuel injection on the SSV if it is not standard. Also the fit and finish is nicer on the Malibu.

The wedge is something I will not do without.

Can you say resale. Do a search on used boats. See which holds more value ofer the years.

I woulsd say SSV that is the better boat in your opinion. You have Mr. Tinker in full support and the dealer is not that far away. My dealer is 3 1/2" hours away. No big deal. Buy the boat you like the best. Again sounds like your mind is set on the SSV. Go for it. Good luck.

Like Phaeton I drive 4 hours to my Supra dealer. I would go wth whatever dealer you feel you would get the most service from. Thats why I go to the #1 Supra/Moomba dealer in th world Waterski Boats Dallas. Just my .02..

we are looking to hopefully gona get an ssv soon. I have ridden behind mc x-star, supers, vlxs, and ssvs and so far i have liked the ssv's wake the best. You get a ton of ballast, and other standard features are off the hook(like gotilla said) . SSVs come standard with fuel injection, moobas do not. The other engine options are mpfi in stead of straight efi. For the money and quality you can't beat it.

The bigger engine may be better for resale and be sure to get the fuel injection.
I think the ssv is a better looking boat. I have not ridden behind either so I can't really judge anything else.

Eeven73

I am being honest..He only gives two choices so riding behind both a lot id pick(with the same price and options available) the Malibu mainly because both with only stock weight the Malibu wins hands down do to the versatility of the wedge ..I like both boats but out of his two choices and with the dealer being closer and price not and issue the VLX is a better deal IMO..I like the SSV also but dont own one i have a 2000 Supra Launch direct drive and really like the wake..As a matter of fact with the exact weight in my boat and the SSV i like my wake a bit better but when you add the big oversize sacks hidden in the back of the SSV and the giant one up fron all auto fill then the SSV wake is nicer with all the weight easy fill and out of the way with a more slick new look.I love the SSV but the 'Bu offers a bit more for near the same price ..

So as a Supra owner and big fan of Supra telling a guy that the Newer 2002 and up malibu VLX was a better choice just by a little then it must be true right Question Mr. Green

Hey Rick hows it going ?yea i missed you all by a little bit but theres always next year ..Rick invent a Supra wedge for us soon so i wont have to buy a malibu in the future..I believe a wedge on my boat would make the wake unbeatable so get your engineers onto making one and one up Malibu one better and make it hydraulic up and down so we dont have to stick our hands in the fridgid winter water to drop the wedge Laughing

BTW i still like my Supra so dont worry but i just get a lot of time behind all the big Wakeboats and have good solid info to offer everybody..
